According to the International Labour Organization (ILO), tens of thousands of people are trafficked for labor exploitation each year, with PWDs being one of the most vulnerable groups. In Vietnam, it is estimated that about 1.5% of PWDs have experienced exploitation, abuse or trafficking. However, only about 30% of them receive full reintegration support from the authorities. Therefore, it is necessary to have an inter-sectoral coordination mechanism to ensure that PWDs are protected and have the opportunity to live a safe, equal and meaningful life.
During the two days (September 23 and 24), 50 delegates from provinces and cities participated in meetings and discussions at the workshop with many contents such as research results on the vulnerability of PWDs to the risk of human trafficking; analysis and review of current policies and legal regulations related to preventing and combating human trafficking from the perspective of ensuring social integration and disability integration; and reference to the handbook on ensuring integration for PWD victims of trafficking.
Delegates shared experiences, practical solutions and issues: screening and identifying types of disabilities, appropriate support methods for each type of disability, ensuring access rights; recommendations and implementation guidelines. At the same time, they discussed the need to strengthen inter-sectoral coordination and referral mechanisms in the work of preventing and combating human trafficking, supporting and protecting victims of trafficking who are PWDs...
The workshop aims to enhance understanding, promote, connect and coordinate among stakeholders in the work of preventing and combating human trafficking, ensuring the right to integration of victims who are PWDs; equipping officers and experts with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve support effectiveness, form a network of connections, and contribute to comprehensive and sustainable assistance for victims.
