TMK Group and Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Corporation promote cooperation

On the morning of October 13, Comrade Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province, received and worked with Mr. Kirill Marchenko, Director of Industrial and Infrastructure Projects of TMK Group (Russian Federation), Head of the Group's working delegation, on the direction of cooperation between TMK and Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Joint Stock Company (Tisco).

At the meeting, the representative of TMK Group said: TMK is the leading Russian group in the field of manufacturing steel pipes for oil, gas and industrial steel, with an output of about 500 thousand tons of steel pipes per year, using modern production processes, exporting products to more than 80 countries. The Group always focuses on international cooperation, in which Vietnam, with its rapidly developing metallurgical industry, is a partner that TMK is particularly interested in.

During the survey in Thai Nguyen , TMK highly appreciated Tisco's production capacity, production line system, technical level and workforce. The two sides had substantive exchanges and initially agreed on cooperation in the production of seamless steel pipes - a high-value product, applied in the oil and gas industry and heavy industry.

TMK representative commented that if Vietnam masters the technology of producing seamless steel pipes, the competitiveness of domestic enterprises will increase sharply, opening up new employment and export opportunities. This is also an important premise to restart the Tisco Project Phase II - a key project that was expected to create a breakthrough for the Vietnamese steel industry.

Mr. Kirill Marchenko expressed his deep gratitude for the warm welcome and open support of the leaders of Thai Nguyen province, and at the same time requested the locality to create favorable conditions in terms of incentive mechanisms, information provision and a stable investment environment so that TMK can implement long-term cooperation.

TMK representative affirmed that the group is ready to transfer technology, train human resources, cooperate in production and expand export markets, based on a comprehensive assessment of Tisco's existing techniques, technology and premises.

Tisco leaders proposed to the province some contents to promote cooperation.

On Tisco's side, business leaders expressed their joy and hope that the cooperation with TMK will open up a new development direction for Vietnam's metallurgy industry.

Tisco affirmed that it has full capacity, experience and foundation to receive modern technology, and at the same time recommended that the province continue to accompany in removing difficulties, ensuring conditions for infrastructure, energy, electricity, water, creating maximum convenience for the early implementation of cooperation agreements.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Hoang Son emphasized: Vietnam and the Russian Federation have a strategic, comprehensive and strong cooperative relationship. Thai Nguyen always values ​​and is proud of the traditional friendship between the two countries, evidenced by the Thai Nguyen Iron and Steel Plant, the "cradle" of the Northern metallurgical industry, built with valuable assistance from the former Soviet Union.

Comrade Pham Hoang Son discussed some cooperation orientations and preferential mechanisms of the province for foreign enterprises investing in Thai Nguyen.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Hoang Son said: Thai Nguyen is a locality with an open economy , a transparent investment environment and a province with a large export proportion with an import-export scale of about 30 billion USD/year, mainly electronic and semiconductor products.

In the current period, Thai Nguyen province is focusing on developing local industry, so the provincial leaders have high expectations for TMK's research and investment cooperation orientation, considering this an important opportunity to promote the Tisco Project Phase II to have a positive change, contributing to the recovery and development of the steel industry, a field in which Thai Nguyen has great potential but has not been exploited adequately.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Hoang Son affirmed that the province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions in terms of administrative procedures, infrastructure, human resources and preferential policies so that foreign enterprises, including TMK, can feel secure in cooperating and investing long-term.

Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Pham Hoang Son emphasized: With the foundation of good traditional cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation, along with the sincerity and determination of all parties, he believes that the cooperation between TMK and Tisco will be successful, creating a new step of development for the Thai Nguyen steel industry.
