Spain will deliver to Ukraine dozens of crucial Patriot air defense missiles and 19 old German-made Leopard 2A4 tanks, along with other Spanish-made weapons such as ammunition and anti-drone equipment.
El Pais newspaper, citing sources familiar with the matter, said the new arms supply commitment will be announced during Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's official visit to Madrid on May 27, where he will meet Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez and King Felipe.

The value of the aid package was approved by the Spanish government last month, although no details were given about the type of weapons included in the package.
Previously, President Zelenskyy said Ukraine needed at least seven more Patriot systems or equivalents to protect cities and frontline positions from attacks by missiles, drones and glide bombs from Russia.
The Patriot system is one of a series of sophisticated air defense units provided by the West to help Ukraine deter Russian airstrikes in the conflict between the two countries.
It is considered one of the most advanced US air defense systems, covering aircraft, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles, and typically includes launchers along with radars and other support assets.
