Tay Ninh proactively responds to flood peak in 2025

Faced with the forecast that the peak flood in the 2025 main crop season is likely to exceed the average of many years, Tay Ninh province has urgently deployed many proactive solutions to prevent, combat and respond to floods, in order to protect agricultural production, especially in the Dong Thap Muoi region.

Hung Dien commune has a surrounding area of ​​about 4,032 hectares that is assessed to be at risk of being affected by flooding.

According to the forecast of the Southern Institute of Water Resources Planning, the main flood peak in 2025 in the Mekong Delta will reach around October 8-13, 2025, with water levels in Tan Chau from 3.7-3.9m, Chau Doc from 3.5-3.7m, higher than the average of many years and higher than the same period in 2024 from 0.3-0.5m.

In Tay Ninh province, this year's flood peak is forecast at Hung Dien station at 3.12m, Tan Hung at 3.08m, Vinh Hung at 2.85m, Moc Hoa at 2.37m, Tuyen Nhon at 1.96m, Ben Luc at 1.76m and Tan An at 1.74m - all higher than alarm levels II and III by 0.14 to 0.46m.

Notably, Hung Dien commune has a perimeter area of ​​about 4,032 hectares that is assessed to be at risk of being affected by flooding.

Faced with this situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province requested the People's Committees of communes and wards in Dong Thap Muoi region and specialized units to proactively deploy solutions to prevent, combat and respond to the flood peak in 2025, in order to minimize damage caused by rain, floods and high tides.

Specifically, localities need to closely monitor water level developments, review, reinforce and raise dikes and embankments, especially in areas with unharvested autumn-winter rice fields, fruit and vegetable areas prone to flooding. At the same time, proactively arrange funding from the budget and other legal sources to handle locations at risk of insecurity.

The Department also requested to strengthen propaganda work on mass media so that people can grasp and proactively protect production, implement the motto "green house is better than old field", limit damage when heavy rain and high tides combine.

The Irrigation Sub-Department is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Irrigation and Clean Water Center, specialized departments and localities to inspect the safety status of irrigation works and dykes, especially in areas at high risk of flooding.

The Department of Agriculture closely monitors the production situation, gives appropriate technical recommendations, protects rice areas, crops, aquatic products, livestock and makes effective use of flood water./.
