The name Le My Huyen is not a strange name in the German community in Vietnam. Ms. Huyen has spent more than 10 years working in the profession and has achieved many outstanding achievements: Goethe C2 Certificate 4 skills; Training Director at VGEC Viet Duc Aspiration Joint Stock Company; Excellent Master's degree in "German as a foreign language and second language in the context of Vietnam - Germany" at Leipzig University, Germany; Former Head of the Department of Translation and Teaching Methods, Faculty of German Language and Culture at the University of Foreign Languages, VNU; Experience in teaching and training for many certificates: Goethe, ÖSD, telc, ECL; Successfully trained many generations of students to go to Germany.
The journey to conquer the C2 4-skill certificate - a difficult challenge for anyone learning German
The Goethe C2 German Certificate in 4 skills (C2 Goethe-Zertifikat) is the highest level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). To achieve the C2 certificate in all 4 skills, learners need to be able to understand complex technical texts, express themselves flexibly and fluently with high accuracy, and present arguments on research issues in a coherent manner.
Currently, German language certificates allow learners to take each skill individually. If you fail a skill, you can choose to retake just that skill, instead of retaking the entire exam. Although she had planned her review carefully, as the VGEC Training Director, Ms. Huyen was extremely busy with work and had no time to review. Right before the exam, she also received a working assignment in Germany for a month with a busy schedule traveling between cities. This was an extremely important business trip to bring more good opportunities to VGEC students, so there could be no delay. After all, Ms. Huyen proved her ability with a C2 certificate in all 4 skills with extremely high scores: 93 points in Reading, 90 points in Speaking, 86 points in Writing and 77 points in Listening. The score is extremely high and difficult to achieve even for many people who have been in Germany for a long time.
German - from a language "reluctantly learned" to "a language that shapes a lifetime"
Perhaps, like many students in Vietnam today, German is not a choice based on personal interest. At first, she also struggled with this strange language, her first year university grades were only average.
Ms. Huyen shared: “Anyone who knows or has studied with me is probably familiar with my fighting spirit when it comes to studying. Spending 10-14 hours a day studying is completely normal. I have also experienced all the feelings of pressure in the exam room, fear of making mistakes, fear of speaking without the other person understanding, fear of listening without retaining any information, fear of writing an essay and having the teacher red-line / criticize almost all of it.”
At that time, she herself did not think that her journey with German would last until today. After more than 11 years of attachment, German is no longer an obligation but has become the language of life. "How can I live without German now?" - the sentence came out as a very natural reflex.
The journey of spreading German passion to students at VGEC
Currently, young master Le My Huyen is working at VGEC as Training Director. The curriculum at VGEC is scientifically and systematically built by Ms. Huyen and her team, not only providing language knowledge to students, but also helping them to have more access to German culture. From there, students can be more confident and steadfast in their journey to conquer this difficult language.
