TPO – On the evening of September 5, Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son – Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education said that the Ministry of Education and Training has decided to establish a branch of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education in Gia Lai on the basis of Gia Lai Pedagogical College.
The decision was signed by Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son on September 5.
Accordingly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is responsible for reporting to the Ministry of Education and Training, the People's Committee of Gia Lai province and relevant ministries and branches to organize the handover and reception of learners, personnel, finance, assets, facilities, equipment and related documents of Gia Lai College of Education according to the provisions of law; report to the Ministry of Education and Training on the conditions to ensure educational quality so that the Ministry of Education and Training can allow the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Branch in Gia Lai to deploy training activities in the coming time.
Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son said that the completion of the project to merge Gia Lai Pedagogical College into Ho Chi Minh City University of Education Branch in Gia Lai took the school more than 2 years of effort with the support of the Province, Departments of the Ministry of Education and Training as well as related Ministries such as: Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Planning and Investment, Ministry of Finance ...
The Ho Chi Minh City University of Education branch in Gia Lai province will undertake the responsibility of training human resources for Gia Lai province as well as some provinces in the Central Highlands and neighboring provinces, in which it commits to giving maximum priority to training in pedagogical fields to ensure enough teachers for the provinces and cities in the region, especially teachers of subjects that are lacking as well as in need from the general context. At the same time, training teachers - educational managers and other human resources will also be prioritized as a very important task.
Mr. Son added that the total scale for the 2024-2026 period is expected to be 650 undergraduate students and about 200 to 300 preschool education college students. After that, the number of students in the industry can develop according to the progress and efficiency of investment as well as the orientation to meet the needs of the education and training sector of the Province as well as the provinces and cities in the Central Highlands region. The enrollment scale will be calculated to increase steadily by 5% to 10% each year for the 2027-2030 period and then based on the results of human resource forecasts of the Province and the region, especially human resources in education and related industries.
It is known that Ho Chi Minh City University of Education was established in 1976. The predecessor of the school was the Faculty of Pedagogy of Saigon University in 1957. In 1995, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education was merged into a member of Ho Chi Minh City National University. However, in 1999, Ho Chi Minh City National University was reorganized on the basis of separation and new establishment, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education became an independent unit.
Currently, in addition to the main campus in Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education also has a branch in Long An and most recently a branch in Gia Lai. In 2024, the school's benchmark scores range from 21.9 to 28.6. At the Long An branch, in the first year of enrollment, the benchmark scores were also high, ranging from 22 to 27.2 points.
