Digital economy accounts for 40% of GRDP
By 2030, the City strives to make the digital economy account for 40% of the local GRDP, 5-10% higher than the national target. To achieve this goal, according to Ms. Vo Thi Trung Trinh, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Digital Transformation Center, the city is currently focusing on building three data groups: Data group on people; financial-enterprise data group; and data group on land-urban areas.
At the same time, expand the construction of digital infrastructure and enhance information security; deploy large-scale digital information infrastructure platforms, build creative and innovative ecosystems, deploy artificial intelligence (AI) programs, open data platforms... These are the basic foundations to promote breakthrough development of the digital economy in Ho Chi Minh City.

From 2021 to present, the city has deployed many models and ideas on innovative and creative solutions, applying information technology to administrative reform to serve people and businesses.
Specifically, this locality continues to deploy online public services at levels 3 and 4; provide information to people through the Ho Chi Minh City Public Service Portal, upgrade the 1022 switchboard system into a multi-sector, multi-field unified information portal, which is a multimedia communication channel between people and authorities at all levels.

According to Mr. Lam Dinh Thang, Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, the city's digital transformation implementation in recent times has been increasingly accelerated and developed in both breadth and depth on all three pillars: Digital government; digital economy and digital society.
In particular, digital government is given strong direction by the city's leaders, because if the government successfully transforms digitally, the administration will be more effective and serve people and businesses better, promoting faster development of socio-economic fields.
Ho Chi Minh City also faces many difficulties and challenges such as limited IT human resources in both quantity and quality, lack of synchronous investment in digital infrastructure, and low awareness of digital transformation among some units and businesses.

Seven pillars to promote digital transformation
To make digital transformation a driving force for socio-economic development, Ho Chi Minh City needs to focus on seven pillars: Mastering data; safe and flexible infrastructure; "tech-savvy" human resources; ecosystem participation; smart workflow; unifying citizen and business experiences towards digital technology; improving and creating new service delivery models.

After the merger, Ho Chi Minh City has the largest number of enterprises in the country, including more than 7,000 information and communication enterprises. Most enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City are aware of the importance of digital transformation and proactively integrate digital transformation goals into their development strategies. This is a positive sign that local enterprises are ready for a breakthrough in digital transformation.
Ms. Dao Thi Hong Le, Director of Tokyo Tech Lab Vietnam, said: Digital transformation is no longer a trend but has become an urgent need for every business. Therefore, digital transformation solution providers need to provide a digital platform that is not only convenient and highly customizable, but also ensures performance and security.
The frequent "concern" of small and medium-sized enterprises is choosing the right digital transformation platform, because choosing the wrong consultant will lead to a loss of both time and money.
