After the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City announced an additional list of successful candidates due to a technical error, many candidates fell into a "dilemma" because they had confirmed their admission to another school under the system of the Ministry of Education and Training.

On the afternoon of August 28, many candidates received notice from the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City stating that they were eligible to enroll in the majors of law, economic law and economic law (partial English program) in 2025.

These are candidates who scored higher than the standard score, but did not receive admission notice due to technical problems, and have confirmed admission to another school with a lower preference.

Application for Cancellation of Admission Confirmation and the Difficult Journey

According to the above announcement, regarding the admission procedure, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City requires candidates to follow the admission instructions directly on the admission guide page (with link). At the same time, the school notes that candidates who have confirmed their admission at another university need to have confirmation of cancellation of their admission confirmation from that university. Admission time is 3:00 p.m. on September 4.

After the announcement, on the morning of August 29, many candidates immediately contacted the universities they had confirmed their admission to request cancellation. However, this process encountered many difficulties.

Parent Ms. Vi Thao ( Gia Lai ) shared: "My child has submitted an application to cancel the confirmation of admission at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade to transfer to Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking. But the University of Industry and Trade requires waiting for the documents to be compiled and sent to the ministry.

Meanwhile, Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City requires a cancellation confirmation on the system before accepting the application. Both schools are pushing back and forth, now there is only a day left until the admission confirmation deadline."

An admissions officer of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade said: "The Banking University should create conditions for candidates to enroll first. After that, we will review and cancel the confirmation on the system."

However, Ho Chi Minh City Banking University requires the opposite: candidates must cancel their admission confirmation on the system before being allowed to enroll.

Some candidates said that they had been confirmed by Ho Chi Minh City Banking University via email, but the school refused to send official letters to other schools - a condition that Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade requires to process the cancellation of admission confirmation.

What do universities say?

Mr. Pham Thai Son - Director of the Admissions and Communications Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade - confirmed that on the morning of August 29, the school's admissions staff received applications to cancel the admission confirmation of a number of candidates who recently encountered technical problems and were not admitted to Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking (now considered admitted).

"However, we do not dare to decide to cancel the admission confirmation for candidates immediately. Even if the candidates send an email notification of admission to Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, this is not an official basis. If the candidates do not pass the entrance exam to Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City, our school cannot accept these candidates again.

Therefore, the school requires candidates to contact the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City to request a document requesting support to cancel the admission confirmation so that our school has a basis to resolve the matter. Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City can also send a document about this to all universities whose candidates were affected by the recent incident so that the schools can conveniently resolve the matter for the candidates," said Mr. Son.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Nguyen Van Thuy - Head of Admissions and Communications Department of Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City - said: "Currently, the school is coordinating with other schools to best resolve this issue for candidates."

Reasons why candidates "unfairly fail"

Previously, on August 22, the Banking University of Ho Chi Minh City announced the admission benchmark scores, but many candidates with higher scores were not notified of admission. The reason is that the admission criteria for the majors of law, economic law, and economic law (partial English program) require math and literature to achieve a minimum score of 6 points on a 10-point scale.

However, on August 28, the school adjusted this regulation in a more favorable direction for candidates: the admission subject combination only needs to have one of the two subjects math or literature with a score of 6 points or higher. Thanks to that, many candidates applying for admission based on the literature - history - geography combination (without math) were eligible to be admitted after the regulation was changed.
