Weather on October 13: Thunderstorms increase in many places

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on October 13, the weather across the country continued to be volatile, with increased thunderstorms in the Northern, Central and Southern regions, and strong winds and high waves in the sea, posing a potential risk to the safety of vessels operating.

In the Northwest, on October 13, there were only showers and thunderstorms in some places. However, from October 14, rain tended to increase, occurring sporadically, locally, and in some places, heavy rain.

On October 13, the Northeast and the area from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will have intermittent sunshine, increasing rain from afternoon to night, many places will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain, with common rainfall of 15-30 mm, locally over 70 mm. Heavy rain will be concentrated in the midland and coastal areas, posing the risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation of low-lying areas.

In the North, from the afternoon and night there will be moderate rain, heavy rain, and very heavy rain in some places.

Last night and early this morning, from Quang Tri to Da Nang, there were showers and thunderstorms, with heavy rain in many places. The rainfall recorded from 7 p.m. on October 12 to 3 a.m. on October 13 was 66.2 mm in Vinh Linh (Hue City), 50.4 mm in An Tay (Hue City). During the day and tonight, the rain continues to spread from Quang Tri to Lam Dong and the South, with rainfall ranging from 10-30 mm in general, and over 80 mm in some places; the rain is concentrated in the afternoon and evening.

Meteorological experts warn that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind, especially in mountainous and coastal areas.

At sea, on the day and night of October 13, the Gulf of Tonkin, the sea area from South Quang Tri to Ca Mau , the Gulf of Thailand, as well as the North and Central East Sea (including the Hoang Sa sea area) will have scattered showers and thunderstorms. During the thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong gusts of wind of level 6-7, and waves over 2 meters high.

The meteorological agency recommends that ships operating in the above-mentioned sea areas should pay attention to forecast bulletins, proactively avoid strong winds and big waves, and ensure safety for people and vehicles.
