According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on August 20, the mountainous areas of the North will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with common rainfall of 15-35mm, and very heavy rain over 100mm in some places.

Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas. People in the northern mountainous provinces should actively monitor the situation, especially in areas that have had rain for many days.

At sea, the weather is complicated: The eastern area between the East Sea and the South East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area) has scattered showers and thunderstorms. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes and strong gusts of wind of level 6 - 7. Waves can be 1 - 2m high, posing a danger to vessels operating.

Thunderstorms are forecast to continue in the central and southern East Sea in the next 24 hours. All vessels and vehicles operating in these waters should pay special attention to the risk of dangerous weather and have plans to anchor and take shelter safely.
