On the morning of July 29, Economic and Urban reporters were present at the scene of the collapse of the surrounding wall at the Thanh Chieu family national relic (Sen Phuong commune, Phuc Tho district). This is a project recognized as a national relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 1991.

At the scene, a 30m long wall behind the main worship area had collapsed. The soil, rocks, and mortar had been cleared away. On the pile of rubble, the steel structure and concrete foundation inside were exposed…

Some people at the scene reported that the surrounding wall collapsed in the early morning of July 28. After the incident, the Sen Phuong commune authorities went to the scene to clean up and ensure traffic safety for people on the road behind the Thanh Chieu communal house relic.

Speaking with Kinh te va Do thi on the morning of July 29, Vice Chairman of Sen Phuong Commune People's Committee Phung Van Dung confirmed that the wall surrounding the Thanh Chieu family national relic site had collapsed. The length of the collapsed wall was about 30m.

“After the incident, the local authorities coordinated with the investor and contractor to go to the scene, record the current situation and make a report. Initially, we determined that the cause of the wall collapse was due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain,” Mr. Dung added.

Regarding the Thanh Chieu family national relic restoration project, Director of the Phuc Tho District Construction Investment Project Management Board Le Hong Hung confirmed that the wall that collapsed on the morning of July 28 was not part of the construction design documents. In fact, this wall was donated by the contractor based on the suggestions and wishes of local people.

Head of the Thanh Chieu Communal House Protection Subcommittee (Sen Phuong Commune) Nguyen Danh Phuong also confirmed the above content. According to Mr. Phuong, the collapsed wall was built on the foundation of the old, degraded wall. The relic protection committee proposed to mobilize the private sector and received support for the construction from the project contractor.

The representative of the Phuc Tho District Construction Investment Project Management Board added that the unit is currently coordinating with the Sen Phuong Commune government to focus on propaganda so that people understand the nature of the incident. At the same time, the contractor is directed to promptly repair and rebuild the surrounding wall to ensure technical and aesthetic safety, meeting the spiritual needs of the people of Sen Phuong Commune.
