Buon Kuop Hydropower Plant overhauls generator H2 ahead of schedule

After nearly 1 month of implementation, Buon Kuop Hydropower Company has completed the overhaul of generator H2, ahead of schedule.

On April 29, the leader of Buon Kuop Hydropower Company said that in addition to exceeding the schedule, the overhaul of generator H2 was assessed to ensure technical quality, contributing to improving the reliability of power system operations.

The overhaul work was launched on March 30, 2025, and was expected to last for a month. However, the overhaul was completed in 28 days, 2 days ahead of schedule.

This is one of the major repair items included in the 2025 periodic maintenance plan of Buon Kuop Hydropower Company. The goal is to maintain the generator set to operate stably, safely, continuously and efficiently.

Right from the preparation stage, the company has mobilized all resources to serve the construction work. Materials and equipment are fully purchased, ensuring readiness at the site. Specialized vehicles and machinery are inspected and mobilized on schedule.

The repair workshop arranges highly specialized technical staff to meet the strict technical requirements of the project.

The main items are performed synchronously, including: checking and repairing turbine equipment, generators, speed control systems, excitation systems, protection relays and control/SCADA systems.

At the same time, the Company hired a specialized unit to perform maintenance and in-depth testing of equipment such as: 902 terminal breaker, T2 transformer, speed control and excitation system. The testing items were deployed in accordance with the requirements of the Electricity Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Industry and Trade .

The overhaul process applies the reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) method. This method helps to optimize operational efficiency, improve equipment reliability and save production costs.
