Due to the impact of storms No. 7, 8, 9, since the beginning of September until now, widespread rain has occurred in the basins of Buon Tua Srah, Buon Kuop and Serepok 3 reservoirs, causing the flow to the reservoirs to increase significantly, combined with the condition that the reservoirs have not been fully exploited at some times, leading to an increase in the water levels of the reservoirs.
In order to ensure that the water level of the reservoir does not exceed the normal rising water level/highest water level before the flood as prescribed in the Reservoir and Inter-reservoir Operation Procedures, Buon Kuop Reservoir has been discharging water through the spillway since September 6 with a flow rate of 38 - 113 m 3 /s, Serepok 3 Reservoir has been discharging water through the spillway since September 7 with a flow rate of 37 - 323 m 3 /s. At 1:00 p.m. on September 25, the water level of Buon Tua Srah Reservoir was at 483.9 m, Buon Kuop Reservoir: 411.9 m, Serepok 3 Reservoir: 270.4 m.
In the next few days, Buon Kuop Lake will maintain and increase overflow discharge. |
According to the forecast of the hydrometeorological agency, storm BUALOI is active near the East Sea, from September 26, the basins of reservoirs are forecast to have moderate rain, some places heavy rain. Therefore, the flow to the reservoirs can continue to be maintained and increased.
In the next few days, Buôn Tua Srah reservoir is expected to have to regulate its spillway for the first time and exploit it at a higher level than at present, with an expected spillway flow of 27-200 m3 /s, total discharge of 180-380 m3 /s; Buôn Kuốp reservoir continues to maintain its spillway as it is now, the discharge may increase according to the flow to the reservoir and the machine exploitation mode; Srêpok 3 reservoir continues to maintain its spillway flow as it is now, the discharge may increase according to the flow to the reservoir and the machine exploitation mode.
To ensure safety for the project and downstream areas, comply with the inter-reservoir operation process and reservoir operation process, Buon Kuop Hydropower Company has sent a document requesting the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the Steering Committee for Civil Defense, local authorities and departments and branches to direct and disseminate to people in the downstream areas of the reservoir about the operating and regulating regime so that they know and proactively prevent and harvest agricultural products, aquatic products and crops; do not leave agricultural tools in low-lying areas and flood drainage areas along the river.
Buon Kuop Hydropower Company also recommends that during the process of regulating spillway discharge or when floods occur, functional agencies and localities regularly coordinate and exchange information with the unit to have response measures to mitigate damage.
On the company's side, we will regularly monitor weather developments in the basin. When discharging water through the reservoir spillway, we will implement the information and notification regime according to regulations.
