Supporting women to overcome difficulties
Having worked as a nurse with a limited income, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang (Hoa Xuan ward) decided to open a printing and advertising installation company with her husband. In the early days, the work was unstable, there were few customers, and the lack of capital to invest in modern equipment led to business losses.
In 2019, she learned about the Women's Development Support Fund and borrowed 40 million VND. Thanks to the low interest rate and monthly installments, she was not under too much pressure. From this capital, her facility invested in new machinery, gradually regained customers, and business improved. Up to now, she has paid off all debts and continued to borrow 40 million VND to expand production. Currently, her company creates jobs for 3 workers, with a stable salary of 7 million VND/person/month.
The story of Mrs. Tran Thi Loc (Cam Le Ward) is also a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of the Women's Development Support Fund. Previously, she worked many jobs but had an unstable income, taking care of her sick husband and raising two children. Later, she became attached to the export net processing profession and cherished the idea of opening her own business.
By 2022, she approached the Women's Support Fund and borrowed 20 million VND to buy raw materials. After paying off the debt, she continued to borrow 40 million VND to expand production. Thanks to focusing on business, the family's economy is increasingly prosperous. "Without capital from the fund, it would be difficult for me to make my dream come true. More importantly, I have also helped many women have jobs and stabilize their lives," Ms. Loc expressed.
Ms. Le Thi Thu Huong, President of the Women's Union of Cam Le Ward, said that in recent times, the Union has been a bridge for many members in difficulty to access capital from the Women's Development Support Fund. Up to now, there are 271 households in the area borrowing with a total amount of more than 10.2 billion VND. Notably, 100% of the borrowing households have paid the principal, interest, and savings in accordance with regulations, without overdue debt.
Sustainable poverty reduction
The Fund for Supporting Women in the Development of Da Nang City was established by the City People's Committee in 2011, with the Chairwoman of the City Women's Union as the Chairman of the Management Board. The Fund operates on a non-profit basis, based on the principles of transparency, financial autonomy, capital preservation and development. Borrowers are poor, near-poor, low-income women, women facing unexpected risks in life, small traders and female small business owners.
Currently, the Women's Development Support Fund supports a maximum loan of 40 million VND/contract/household, term of 25 months; maximum 50 million VND/contract/household, term of 36 months, with a preferential interest rate of 0.66%/month. As of July 2025, the Fund has disbursed revolving loans to more than 17,100 households with a total amount of more than 355.5 billion VND; current outstanding debt is nearly 33.2 billion VND/1,955 households. Notably, the Fund has not incurred overdue debt, demonstrating the sustainability of the capital source as well as the high sense of responsibility of the borrowers.
According to the City Women's Union, the Women's Development Support Fund not only helps women have capital to develop the economy but also creates new jobs, contributing to limiting black credit and savings and loan syndicates in the community. At the same time, through thousands of communication and training sessions, the Fund also helps members improve their financial knowledge and capital management skills, thereby changing their business mindset and knowing how to calculate for the long term. In the coming time, the Union will continue to closely monitor, improve the efficiency of capital use, and expand the beneficiaries so that more and more women can access it.
