A representative of the People's Committee of Cuc Phuong commune, Ninh Binh province confirmed that at noon on August 19, search forces found the body of a male tourist who went missing in Cuc Phuong National Park in recent days.
The leader of the People's Committee of Cuc Phuong commune said the male tourist's body was found about 700 meters from Son Cung cave area, where the victim left his backpack with personal documents and many other belongings.
Previously, Cuc Phuong National Park confirmed that the lost male tourist was Nguyen Quoc Manh (born in 1992, residing in Hai Phong city), who went missing while visiting Cuc Phuong National Park alone on August 14.
The incident became known on the afternoon of August 14, when Mr. Manh's backpack left in the Son Cung cave area was discovered by a tour guide while visiting the cave.
The tour guide immediately reported the incident to the Bong Regional Forest Ranger Station. This area is about 20km from the forest entrance and has no phone signal.
In recent days, Cuc Phuong National Park has coordinated with local authorities, functional forces, family members and volunteers to search for victims with a number of about 100 people/day, divided into many search routes.
However, due to the frequent heavy rains and rugged terrain in Cuc Phuong area, it has caused difficulties for search and rescue forces.
Authorities are examining the scene, performing an autopsy and investigating to clarify the matter.
