Organizing a tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho at the Nguyen Temple

On the occasion of the beginning of Spring Giap Thin 2024, on February 17, at the national historical and architectural relic site of Thanh Nguyen Temple, Gia Vien District People's Committee organized the launching ceremony of "Tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho".

Attending the ceremony were leaders of the Department of Health , Gia Vien district, Gia Vien Association in Hanoi and a large number of people from Gia Thang and Gia Tien communes (Gia Vien).

At the launching ceremony, delegates offered incense to commemorate the merits of Zen Master Nguyen Minh Khong. With his mastery of medicine, the Zen Master traveled to many places, finding many precious plants and remedies available in nature to treat diseases for people in the region, becoming the first Vietnamese to apply the method of treating diseases with traditional medicine. Notably, in 1136, with his outstanding skills and knowledge of medical science , he cured King Ly Than Tong of an incurable disease and was awarded the noble title "Ly Dynasty National Master".

With the aim of preserving and developing indigenous herbs associated with experiential tourism , the People's Committee of Gia Vien district has implemented the restoration of the landscape of the Nguyen Temple and the herbal garden in Gia Tien and Gia Thang communes, and at the same time called on people and tourists from all over to support the fund for developing and caring for medicinal plants, contributing to the list of precious medicinal plants at Nguyen Minh Khong herbal garden. This is the initial activity for the district to carry out the scientific research topic "Building Nguyen Minh Khong herbal garden to preserve and develop indigenous herbs associated with experiential tourism in the district".

The garden will be a place to collect, encode, preserve and restore medicinal plant genetic resources, especially precious genetic resources. From there, it will attract tourists to visit and worship; especially students will have the opportunity to experience and learn about medicinal plants and oriental medicine in a practical and scientific way, helping them to develop green living skills, friendly with nature, contributing to improving the quality of comprehensive education.

Immediately after the launching ceremony, delegates and people planted hundreds of medicinal plants around the temple area. The medicinal plants planted are familiar plants in daily life such as yellow camellia, ophiopogon, purple jasmine, grapefruit, red cotton, gardenia... Thereby also promoting to the community and encouraging people to use plants and medicinal herbs to treat diseases.
