At the meetings, Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his joy at returning to visit Ho Chi Minh City and meeting former President Nguyen Minh Triet and former President Truong Tan Sang, close friends and comrades of the Lao Party, State and people.
Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith appreciated and thanked Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet and Comrade Truong Tan Sang for their sentiments and great contributions to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; recalled memories of their visits to Laos as well as their meetings with the two former Presidents and looked forward to welcoming the two comrades to visit Laos.
The Lao General Secretary and President affirmed that Laos will, together with Vietnam, continue to preserve, cultivate and pass on to future generations the fine tradition of the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.
Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith also informed about the recent situation in Laos, achievements in Vietnam-Laos cooperation and the results of talks, meetings and meetings with volunteer soldiers, former experts, overseas students and young generations of the two countries in Hanoi.
He respectfully conveyed the warm regards of former Party Chairman and former President Khamtay Siphandone and former General Secretary and former President Chumaly Saynhason, Bounnhang Vorachith and the wife of President Kaysone Phomvihane to Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet and Comrade Truong Tan Sang.

Former President Nguyen Minh Triet and Truong Tan Sang expressed their belief that under the wise leadership of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party headed by General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, the Lao country and people will overcome all difficulties, continue to gain even greater new achievements, successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Congress and prepare for and successfully organize the 12th Congress of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party.
The two former Presidents expressed their joy at the achievements of the two Parties and two countries, and the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos, established by the great President Ho Chi Minh and President Kaysone Phomvihane and President Souphanouvong, and nurtured by generations of leaders and people of the two countries, which has been continuously consolidated and developed, becoming increasingly deeper, practical and effective in all fields, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.
Comrade Nguyen Minh Triet and Comrade Truong Tan Sang affirmed that the visit of the Lao General Secretary and President will contribute to further deepening the special Vietnam-Laos relationship in the context that the two Parties and two countries are actively implementing the Congress Resolution of each Party and preparing for the new National Party Congress.
The two former Presidents of Vietnam recalled the memories and affection that the Lao senior leaders and the Lao people have always had for them, expressed their hope and belief that the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos will continue to grow to new heights; sincerely thanked and sent their regards to the former key leaders of the Lao Party and State and Mrs. Thongvin Phomvihane, wife of President Kaysone Phomvihane.
