According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , at the invitation of President Luong Cuong, United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres will pay an official visit to Vietnam and attend the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime from June 24-25.

Vietnam will host the signing ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime and the United Nations High-Level Meeting in Hanoi (Hanoi Convention) on October 25 and 26.
Deputy Foreign Minister Dang Hoang Giang emphasized that the United Nations' selection of Hanoi as the venue for the Signing Ceremony and Summit is a very special event.
Deputy Minister Dang Hoang Giang affirmed that hosting the signing ceremony of the Hanoi Convention not only promotes cooperation in preventing and combating cybercrime but also helps Vietnam increase experience exchange to perfect institutions and legal frameworks and improve the professional and technical capacity of law enforcement forces.
As of October 14, 93 delegations led by senior leaders and leaders of ministries and sectors of various countries have confirmed their attendance at the event, along with more than 1,000 delegates and the press.
President Luong Cuong and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres are expected to deliver important speeches at the opening session.
Previously, on September 22 (local time), President Luong Cuong met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his great anticipation of his official visit to Vietnam at the end of October. At the same time, the Secretary-General said that Vietnam is an excellent partner, actively participating and contributing to all priority areas of the United Nations , especially in peacekeeping, sustainable development, climate change response, and equitable energy transition.
The United Nations Secretary-General assessed Vietnam as an active member of the United Nations and a pillar of today's multipolar world, so he believed that emerging economies, including Vietnam, need to have a more worthy voice, representation and role in the global governance system.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam believes in and supports multilateralism and the central role of the United Nations in global governance.
