Ho Chi Minh City spends more than 4,500 billion VND to build 1,434 new classrooms, ensuring 100% of students have a place to study.

In preparation for the new school year, Ho Chi Minh City has invested more than VND4,500 billion from the state budget to put into use 1,434 new classrooms. In addition, there are about 181 classrooms from socialized sources.

This is one of the highlights presented by the representative of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City at the City Reporters Conference in September 2025, on the topic "Education work in the 2025-2026 school year in Ho Chi Minh City". The conference was organized by the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on the afternoon of September 16.

Specifically, Ms. Huynh Le Nhu Trang - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - said that in the 2025-2026 school year, the education and training sector of Ho Chi Minh City has a scale and network of schools after merging with Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, currently having 3,496 educational institutions.

Up to now, the total number of students in the whole sector is recorded at 2.46 million. The vocational education - continuing education and specialized education sector has about 69,478 students.

To prepare facilities for the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City has invested more than VND4,500 billion from the budget to put into use 1,434 new classrooms, thereby contributing to an increase of 1,072 classrooms compared to the previous school year.

In addition to the budget capital, it is expected that nearly 181 more classrooms will be invested from socialized sources.

According to the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, with this investment, the city commits to ensuring that 100% of children living in the area have enough places to study and that educational facilities fully meet the requirements of facilities and equipment to organize teaching and learning activities according to the requirements of the general education program.

Regarding the repair and purchase of facilities, equipment, and teaching aids at units under the People's Committees of communes and wards, Ms. Trang informed that the total allocated budget is more than 342 billion VND.

To ensure the best conditions for the 2025-2026 school year, the Department of Education and Training will continue to actively review and monitor preparations at educational institutions from preschool to junior high school managed by the locality.

For the affiliated high school block, according to the 2025 budget allocation plan, the total approved budget for repairing facilities and purchasing equipment is more than 68 billion VND.

This funding source is specifically allocated to include about 16 billion VND for purchasing activities and 52 billion VND for repair work.

In addition to the allocated budget, Ms. Trang said that units are required to proactively balance the allocated budget and regular savings to supplement repairs and purchases, in order to ensure the best conditions for teaching and learning activities.
