Donating motorbikes to support 12 communes in the North of Lao Cai province

On the morning of October 5, at Bao Thang commune, Comrade Giang Thi Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province presented motorbikes to support 12 communes that suffered heavy damage due to storm No. 10.

The program is chaired by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, aiming to help localities have more means to serve the work of responding to, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters and operating at the grassroots level.

At the program, 24 motorbikes were given to 12 communes including: Ta Cu Ty, Ta Van, Bao Thang, Coc Lau, Trinh Tuong, Vo Lao, Xuan Quang, Phuc Khanh, Van Ban, Nam Chay, Duong Quy and Chieng Ken.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Comrade Giang Thi Dung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province emphasized: Although the material value of the motorbikes is not great, they have practical significance, being a source of spiritual encouragement to help localities be more proactive in relief work, propaganda, mobilizing people and responding promptly in emergency situations.

He expressed his respect and gratitude to agencies, organizations, businesses and philanthropists who have joined hands to support Lao Cai province in preventing and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters, contributing to spreading the spirit of "Mutual love - Helping each other" in the community.

Storm No. 10 caused severe damage in Lao Cai province. The whole province had 26 communes and wards severely damaged, nearly 12,000 houses damaged, thousands of hectares of crops and livestock were swept away; many traffic routes, schools, and medical facilities were eroded and flooded. Total damage was estimated at about 2,750 billion VND.

Immediately after the storm, the province mobilized more than 10,000 officers, soldiers and local forces to participate in rescue and overcoming the consequences. To date, 100% of roads, schools and medical facilities have been restored, ensuring people's lives and students' education.

On this occasion, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lao Cai province chaired the program of donating motorbikes to support localities severely damaged by storm No. 10. Accordingly, the program was implemented at two locations: in Viet Hong commune, donating 26 motorbikes to 13 communes; in Bao Thang commune, donating 24 motorbikes to 12 communes.
