Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly gave a meaningful gift to the Academy.
The exhibition brings together about 90 diverse works including paintings, graphics, sculptures and decorative arts by Soviet and Russian master artists and their Vietnamese students. Notably, many authors are members of the Soviet and Russian Academy of Arts.
The event was honored to welcome the wife of General Secretary Ngo Phuong Ly, Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi and his wife, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko and his wife, along with many officials from both countries and art lovers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasily Tsereteli expressed his honor to organize this beautiful exhibition, demonstrating the inheritance between generations of Russian and Vietnamese painters. He pointed out that the works of the Vietnamese school of painting and the Russian realist school show that teachers and students in the same space still create world- class visual art works. The artistic quality of the Exhibition is demonstrated by the presence of many master painters, including People's Artist Nikas Safronov, one of the painters known as the "most expensive" in Russia.
Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Andrei Malyshev affirmed that cooperation in training in the creative field between the two countries has been widely implemented for a long time, and today has formed a "path" of art as the name of the exhibition "Teacher and Student...". The exhibition, representing more than half a century of joint creation by outstanding Soviet and Russian art masters and Vietnamese students who were trained in the land of the White Birch in the late 20th - early 21st century, reflects the deepest nature of the relationship between the two countries, is a vivid example of friendship and close cooperation between the two peoples, emphasizing the connection and closeness between the two cultures.
Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova used many warm and sincere words to welcome the Exhibition. She quoted many sayings of Vietnamese writers and poets when talking about Russia in the hearts of Vietnam.
Works of artist Ngo Manh Lan at the Exhibition.
Notably, the exhibition displays five works by artist, People's Artist Ngo Manh Lan, father of the wife of General Secretary Ngo Phuong Ly - one of the first Vietnamese students to study in the Soviet Union since 1962. After years of studying in the Soviet Union, artist Ngo Manh Lan became a great animator, a respected teacher of many generations of students. Many generations of Vietnamese children grew up with his animated films "The Adventures of a Cricket" (1959), "The Little Cat's Tet" (1970), "The Talking Starling" (1970) and other works. He had a long-standing personal friendship with his teacher, Ivan Petrovich Ivanov-Vano, who later inspired him to draw the animated film "Ave Maria" (1972).
Madam Ngo Phuong Ly pointed out that the Exhibition demonstrated the good results in training cooperation in general, and fine arts training in particular, between the two countries. Moved by the affection and respect from Russian art experts for the works of artist Ngo Manh Lan, Madam Ngo Phuong Ly affirmed that the Exhibition would contribute significantly to strengthening the friendship and good traditional relationship between the two countries.
The "For the deserving" gold medal was respectfully awarded to Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly.
On this occasion, Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly was honored to receive the Gold Medal "For the Worthy" from the Russian Academy of Arts for her active contributions to the development of art and international cultural relations. At the same time, sculptor Dao Chau Hai - a student of Professor, People's Artist PI Bondarenko - was also awarded the title of Honorary Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts.
As Permanent Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Hai Binh reiterated, Vietnam and the Russian Federation are bound together by a long-standing traditional friendship. The 75-year relationship between the two countries is a priceless asset of the people, with positive contributions from the foundation of deep cultural cooperation, including the teacher-student relationship of many generations of Vietnamese and Russian people. Referring to the Russian proverb "A teacher is the second father of every person", Deputy Minister Le Hai Binh respectfully thanked the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Russian Academy of Arts, the Russian Teachers and Friends for their initiative in organizing the exhibition.
Art lovers who cherish the Vietnam-Russia friendship can admire the artworks that blend the devoted guidance of Russian teachers and the receptiveness and creativity of Vietnamese students until September 28 in Moscow.
