This rescue flight demonstrates the spirit of urgency and dedication of the air ambulance team of Military Hospital 175 and the flight crew of Army Corps 18; continuing to affirm the important role of air ambulance in ensuring medical care in the sea and island areas, contributing to taking good care of the health of soldiers and people on the island frontlines of the Fatherland.
The patient is B.D.D, born in 1969, from the old Nam Dinh (now Ninh Binh), has a history of type 2 diabetes and chronic hypertension, and is taking regular medication. At 8:30 a.m. on October 14, the patient experienced dull, increasing chest pain behind the sternum. His teammates took him to the Thuyen Chai Island infirmary with a pulse of 72 beats/minute, blood pressure of 120/70 mmHg, and SpO ₂ index of 97%. Through examination and electrocardiogram, the doctors diagnosed the patient with acute anterior myocardial infarction.

Upon receiving the news, Military Hospital 175 immediately activated the telemedicine system for an emergency consultation with Thuyen Chai Island Infirmary. The online consultation results determined: The patient had an acute myocardial infarction with ST elevation in the posterior inferior Killip II region, 4 hours later, accompanied by hypertension and type 2 diabetes, with a very serious prognosis, at risk of cardiac arrest, arrhythmia, cardiogenic shock and sudden death, requiring urgent transport to the mainland for treatment.
In compliance with the order of the Ministry of National Defense , the 18th Army Corps mobilized the EC-225 helicopter crew with registration number VN-8618, captained by Lieutenant Colonel Do Hoang Hai, and the air ambulance team of Military Hospital 175, led by Major, Master, Doctor Dinh Van Hong, to depart from Tan Son Nhat Airport at 4:30 p.m. on October 14. The ambulance team brought along full equipment for intensive cardiovascular resuscitation and a team of doctors experienced in emergency care for critically ill patients, especially with the participation of interventional cardiologists.

The flight overcame the harsh night flight conditions, ensuring absolute safety for the journey. Immediately after reaching the patient at Thuyen Chai Island, the air ambulance team took necessary interventions and treatment measures, ensuring safety to transport the patient to the mainland.
Upon arrival at Military Hospital 175, the patient was transferred directly to the emergency department for specialized testing and intensive treatment to maximize the risk of cardiovascular complications.
