45% of students who violated the law were underage and drove motorbikes.
On September 23, a representative of the Traffic Police Department (PC08) of Ho Chi Minh City Police said that the majority of students and parents comply with the law on traffic safety and order.
However, in the total number of cases where students were ticketed by traffic police for traffic violations, more than 45% of the cases involved underage students riding motorbikes; more than 25% were speeding; more than 12% were riding or carrying a passenger without a helmet; more than 11% were not riding in the correct lane or lane.
Schools with many violations include: Van Hien University, Tran Cao Van High School (campus 1), Cao Thang Technical College, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (IUH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH), Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH), etc.
In particular, many cases of students violating errors that have led to serious traffic accidents in recent times, such as: exceeding the speed limit; driving in the wrong direction; in some cases, violating alcohol concentration, etc.
Notably, there are many cases of students climbing over the median strip to catch the bus home or to school, which is very dangerous.
Coordinate with the school to handle strictly.
Some violations have caused collisions and traffic accidents, mainly due to students being subjective, negligent, lacking experience and slow in judging situations, not paying attention to observing and understanding traffic situations, leading to being startled, making the steering wheel unstable and falling.
More serious consequences can have long-term effects on health and learning, property damage and even life.
In recent times, with the efforts of departments, organizations as well as the traffic police force, awareness of compliance with traffic safety laws among students has been significantly improved.
In the coming time, the traffic police force will strengthen coordination with the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City to organize inspection teams at schools and educational institutions; continue to mobilize school principals to organize signing of commitments on compliance with regulations on ensuring traffic order and safety.
The school is requested to cooperate in handling students who violate traffic laws when notified by the traffic police, and to sign a commitment not to take care of or keep vehicles over 50cc for students who are not qualified to drive.
The Traffic Police Department recommends that people strictly comply with the law when participating in traffic and not hand over their vehicles to unqualified drivers.
Parents are the closest and most authentic role models for their children. Each person needs to change and adjust bad habits when participating in traffic and join hands to coordinate and support the school board, traffic police, and the whole society in educating their children about the law, contributing step by step to building a civilized, responsible young generation and a safer traffic environment for everyone.
