From sketch to finished product on a tablet just over 5mm thin

For Lam, a graphic designer, the Galaxy Tab S11 series is both a drawing tool and a creative space where every idea is recorded, refined and turned into a finished product.

Every morning, Dang Tien Lam carries a lightweight canvas bag with a notebook, a few colored pencils, and recently a new device: the Galaxy Tab S11 series. As a freelance graphic designer, Lam often works in cafes, co-working spaces, and even while traveling between Ho Chi Minh City and Da Lat. Therefore, he needs a device powerful enough to handle design, but also compact enough to carry around without being cumbersome.

Before, every time he received an urgent project, Lam often had to carry a laptop, a drawing board, and a portable hard drive, making his backpack always heavy. After switching to the Galaxy Tab S11, everything became significantly simpler. With a thickness of only 5.1 mm and a weight of about 469 g, this tablet easily fits in the cloth bag he usually uses to carry documents.

The Dynamic AMOLED 2X display is sharp even when working outdoors, allowing him to freely sit and draw anywhere. “There are mornings when I sit sketching on the sidewalk in Da Lat, the sunlight shining directly on the screen but I can still see every stroke clearly. For me, a thin and light device that is good enough for serious work is the most valuable thing right now.”

Lam doesn’t call the Galaxy Tab S11 series a tablet, but rather a “thinking digital notebook.” A key part of that experience is the S Pen, a digital pen redesigned to serve both focused work and creative expression. With a new conical tip, the S Pen supports greater tilt, allowing him to control his strokes more precisely when shading or lining. The hexagonal design provides a natural, firm grip and is less slippery when drawing for long periods of time.

While editing or brainstorming, Lam can quickly access tools with Quick Tools, adjust pen strokes or drawing mode right on the screen without having to exit the application. When he needs to take urgent notes while viewing documents, the Sticky Note feature helps him quickly take notes right on the Samsung Notes interface, no longer wasting time switching back and forth between apps.

The S Pen that comes with the device and doesn't need to be purchased separately is a point that Lam appreciates in the Galaxy Tab S11 series.

Not only does Lam stop at recording ideas, he also takes advantage of Galaxy AI on the Galaxy Tab S11 to significantly shorten the design development process. Once he has a hand sketch, he uses the Sketch to Image feature to suggest color rendering versions that are closer to the original intention. This is a tool that helps him test layouts faster, especially useful when he needs to send multiple options for customers to choose from.

When looking for inspiration for a project, he uses Gemini Live to suggest and analyze creative ideas, or Circle to Search to find similar materials and visual styles from the original drawing. Thanks to AI deeply integrated into the device, Lam hardly has to switch between other applications or devices. “The time I spend on research has been greatly reduced. AI does not replace humans, but it effectively supports me to go faster from step one to step three in the creative chain,” Tien Lam shared.

When he needs to send files to customers, edit presentations or write progress reports, Lam just needs to activate DeX mode on the Galaxy Tab S11 series. The computer-like interface helps him operate familiarly: Split the screen to edit photos and send emails at the same time; drag and drop files between applications intuitively. Especially, in online meetings or customer meetings, the Galaxy Tab S11 series can connect to a large screen to present directly without needing an additional laptop or intermediary device.

“Once I went to a coffee shop to meet a customer, bringing along a Galaxy Tab S11 and a transfer cable. With just a few steps, I was able to project the entire mockup onto the shop’s large TV - it looked very neat and still professional,” Lam revealed.

For Lam, being creative has never been easy, but with the help of a companion device, the process can be simpler. The Galaxy Tab S11 series does not make him a better creator, but it helps him stay inspired, reduce unnecessary steps and keep up with his work even when on the go. In a world where time is the biggest limit, a device that is light enough to carry, powerful enough to draw and smart enough to support each stage is what a creative needs.

“The Galaxy Tab S11 is like a launch pad for my ideas to take off. It feels really great to be able to carry it everywhere because I know that any idea that comes up will be recorded promptly, not missed,” Lam said.
