Many places support gender selection of fetuses
In the series of reports "The pain of choosing the sex of the fetus" published by Tuoi Tre recently, over the past 19 years (since 2006), the gender gap at birth in Vietnam is still very high, with one year having 114 boys/100 girls.
In reality, there are many doctors, hospitals, and clinics in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi that help brokers, and many couples can easily achieve their wishes by openly saying they want to have a "baby that looks like the father" (boy) or a "baby that looks like the mother" (girl).
After the series of articles, the Department of Maternal and Child Health (Ministry of Health) sent a document to health departments and hospitals across the country requesting to prevent the act of choosing the sex of the fetus and verify and handle violations if any.
