Not only is she good at business , Ms. Nghiem Thi Xuan is also loved by everyone for her kindness, generosity and spreading good values in the community.

The land does not fail the people

In 1987, at the age of 20, Ms. Xuan followed her family to the former Binh Phuoc province, now Dong Nai province, to live and work. After that, she worked for nearly 30 years as a rubber tapping worker at a farm in Da Kia commune. During her time working in rubber tapping, Ms. Xuan experienced many difficulties and hardships. These things trained her will, diligence and especially the dream of getting rich from agriculture.

Therefore, right after retiring from the rubber plantation in 2016, she immediately started to build her family's economy with a rubber plantation model using the capital accumulated during her time working at the farm. Just like that, with her hard-working calloused hands, combined with her passion for rubber tapping, Ms. Xuan gradually expanded the family's garden area. From the initial few hectares, Ms. Xuan now owns 11 hectares of rubber trees that are being harvested, earning more than 60 million VND per month after deducting expenses.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tung, Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Da Kia Commune, said: Ms. Nghiem Thi Xuan is a dedicated cadre, always devoted to the common work. Over the years, she has always been evaluated as excellent, a typical example in family economic development and a leading role model in local movements. Her enthusiasm, sense of responsibility and prestige have spread confidence, encouraging cadres, party members and people to join hands to build their homeland.

Ms. Xuan said: “We have to be steadfast with the set goals. Growing rubber also has many difficult stages such as: pests, falling prices… At those times, many people panic and choose to switch to other crops, but I am not. I persevere in taking care of it and wait until the price recovers.”

Not stopping there, 8 years ago, with the capital accumulated from the rubber planting model, Ms. Xuan continued to boldly invest in a house to raise swiftlets, despite her increasing age. Starting from zero in terms of technique, the first years of this model were not effective. But still with the passion for work, perseverance, and willingness to learn, by the 3rd year, raising swiftlets began to flourish and brought in a stable income. Currently, Ms. Xuan's family has a monthly income from raising swiftlets of about 20 million VND, when the price of swiftlets is high, the income is up to 25 million VND/month. Accordingly, Ms. Xuan's income from these two economic models is about more than 80 million VND/month, equivalent to more than 1 billion VND/year.

Spreading value to the community

Not only is she good at economics, Ms. Nghiem Thi Xuan is also an exemplary grassroots cadre, respected and loved by many people. As Secretary of the Binh Loi village Party Cell, Ms. Xuan is always devoted to the people, always taking the lead and being an example in building a civilized life, protecting the environment, maintaining security and order and building solidarity among the people.

What is more precious is Ms. Xuan's kindness to the disadvantaged in the locality. She regularly mobilizes benefactors to support necessities and introduce jobs to poor households and households in especially difficult circumstances in the locality, helping them have more motivation to improve their lives.

One of them is Mrs. Pham Thi Hong Tham, who lives in the same village. She is a single-parent family, unemployed and has to raise a young grandchild. Recently, Mrs. Tham has often received help from Mrs. Xuan and the local government. Mrs. Tham emotionally shared: “The government, especially Mrs. Xuan, often visits and helps me every month. My family's circumstances are difficult, without this help, my grandchildren and I would not be where we are today.”

Despite her good economic situation, Ms. Xuan still maintains a simple and exemplary lifestyle. Regardless of her age or role, she still completes her tasks excellently. With her tireless efforts, Ms. Xuan has been honored to receive many certificates of merit from the province and locality. The story of Ms. Nghiem Thi Xuan is a testament to today's generation that: Age is never a limit to starting. Ms. Xuan's success does not come from luck, but is the crystallization of work, learning and perseverance throughout her life.
