Plastic waste pollution has reached a huge scale worldwide and is causing serious consequences for the environment and social life. Vietnam is not out of the negative impacts of plastic waste.
Statistics show that on average, Vietnam discharges about 1.8 million tons of plastic waste each year, placing it among the 20 countries with the largest amount of waste and higher than the world average.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition, Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information Ngo Thanh Hien said that through photos and documents, the exhibition provides viewers with information on the harmful effects of plastic waste and nylon bags on the economy , society, environment and human health, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the community to change the habit of using nylon bags and disposable plastic products and gradually switch to using products that are close and friendly to the environment; collect and recycle plastic products, towards a circular economy, green economy and green growth.

According to Mr. Ngo Thanh Hien, in reality, plastic waste and nylon bag pollution in our country is currently at a serious level, increasing year by year and is one of the "burdens" on the environment; it can even lead to environmental disasters, directly affecting the lives and health of people and the growth of related economic sectors.

Limiting, minimizing and recycling waste from plastic and nylon bags has become an urgent requirement and must be acted upon immediately, starting with gradually reducing the consumption of plastic products and nylon bags that are difficult to decompose, especially disposable plastic products. At the same time, promoting the collection and recycling of plastic products, aiming at the widespread application of circular economy and green economy in our country.

The photo exhibition on plastic waste prevention and control is a practical communication activity to implement the Project "Promoting propaganda on plastic waste prevention and control in the period of 2021 - 2025" approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 175/QD-TTg dated February 5, 2021.

After the exhibition ends, the Department of Grassroots Information and External Information will transfer all documents to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports to coordinate with relevant agencies and units to continue organizing propaganda activities and widely disseminate them in the city.
