Enhancing the capacity to preserve and promote traditional festival values ​​associated with tourism development

On October 17, the Department of Culture of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Hop Thanh commune to organize a training course to improve capacity in preserving and promoting the values ​​of traditional festivals of ethnic minorities in association with tourism development.

The training was attended by 80 artisans and students who are Tay ethnic people from Hop Thanh commune.

During the 1-day period, the trainees were presented by reporters from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism on the following contents: Preserving and promoting the traditional culture of the Tay ethnic group in association with tourism development; preserving traditional festivals of ethnic minorities in Lao Cai province in general and Hop Thanh commune in particular.

At the training session, the presenter and trainees discussed solutions and directions for conservation, exploitation, and product development to serve local tourism development.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Song Ha (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) discussed cultural preservation and tourism development.

Hop Thanh has more than 12,000 people, of which ethnic minorities account for 92.4%. With a large area, rich natural landscape and the coexistence of 6 ethnic groups: Tay, Giay, Dao, Kinh, Mong, Xa Pho, Hop Thanh commune is considered a colorful cultural picture, rich in potential for community tourism development.

The training session is an opportunity for those who love ethnic culture to exchange, share experiences and come up with solutions to preserve and promote the nation's precious assets.

The training session is part of the activities to implement Project 6 under the National Target Program for Socio -Economic Development of Ethnic Minority Areas, linking the preservation and promotion of Tay ethnic culture with sustainable tourism development. The activities aim at the dual goal of improving the spiritual life and income of the people, while building unique cultural tourism products, creating long-term livelihoods and strengthening national pride in the community.
