Beauty of labor through the Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba Fashion Contest

The 2025 Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba Fashion Contest for female union members and workers organized by the Provincial Labor Federation has left many beautiful impressions and excitement and joy among union members and workers working at units and enterprises in Dong Nai.

The contest is part of a series of activities of Dong Nai Women's Day - Confident integration to welcome the success of the 1st Congress of Dong Nai Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the 1st Congress of Vietnam Fatherland Front Provincial Delegates, the 1st Congress of Dong Nai Provincial Trade Union and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Women's Union (October 20, 1930 - October 20, 2025).

Where female workers confidently shine

Held for the first time, the contest attracted 65 teams with nearly 500 contestants from 55 grassroots trade unions at units and enterprises in Dong Nai. The contest is not only a cultural and artistic playground but also an opportunity to honor the graceful, rustic but no less confident beauty of female workers in Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba, symbols of traditional Vietnamese culture.

With the gentle and graceful music, the contestants took turns showing their grace and talent through the traditional Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba costumes associated with daily work and living. The graceful Ao Dai brings elegant beauty, while the simple Ao Ba Ba shows the industrious and hard-working spirit of Vietnamese rural women.

Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Hien, a worker in the packing department at New Apparel Far Eastern Co., Ltd. (Vietnam), Dong Phu commune, traveled a long way with the company's contestants to participate in the contest. Ms. Hien said: I am very happy and proud to represent the company's labor collective to participate in the contest. This is an opportunity for me to show the traditional beauty of Vietnamese women and also an opportunity to exchange and learn with colleagues.

“Through the contest, I feel the care and concern of the Union, helping us to be more confident in shining and steady in work and life” - Ms. Hien shared.

Coming to the contest, the teams showed their meticulous preparation, seriousness and professional performance, complete the competition on stage, which was highly appreciated by the judges. In addition to the performance of Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba, the program also had cultural exchange performances, special greetings introducing the image of simple women in production labor, about the working environment in enterprises. Along with that were poems, reports, songs illustrating the competition praising the love of homeland, country, about Vietnamese history and culture, helping the competition to be more lively and meaningful.

Participating in the contest for the first time with the traditional flowing ao dai, worker Huynh Thi Thu Tram from Longwell Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Dau Giay commune) and the other contestants in her team performed their best.

At Global Dynamic Mechanical Company Limited (Trang Bom Commune), many female workers are not only good at their jobs but also actively participate in movements and competitions organized by the Union. Although working in a mechanical environment with a lot of pressure, when standing on stage to perform, they transform into professional models with graceful traditional Ao Dai costumes.

Ms. Thu Tram said: The nature of her work is often on the production line, so she has little time to practice, but she is very confident when coming to the contest. This is a playground for her to exchange and learn with other teams and, most of all, to bring the traditional beauty of the Ao Dai to the contest.

"I thank the Union for organizing a meaningful contest so that female workers in the whole province can participate, improve their spiritual life and confidently shine after working hours at the factory" - Ms. Thu Tram confided.

Preserving national cultural identity

The success of the Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba Fashion Contest with hundreds of workers participating and watching has shown the appeal of the competitions. Many female workers are usually simple in factories and enterprises, busy with orders and pressure of product targets, but when standing on stage, they confidently strut, expressing their feminine beauty through Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba costumes. What is more special, many workers design their own costumes, sew them directly at the factory to bring to the contest something new, neat and colorful.

Chairwoman of the Trade Union of New Apparel Far Eastern Co., Ltd. (Vietnam) Nguyen Thi Mai Chi said: The Ao Dai and Ao Ba Ba Fashion Contest is a practical and meaningful activity, contributing to honoring the traditional beauty, gentleness and charm of women. Through the contest, the image of the graceful Ao Dai and the rustic and delicate Ao Ba Ba has spread profound cultural values, highlighting the beauty of female workers in the new era.

"The activity contributes to improving spiritual life, demonstrating the Union's concern for workers, especially female union members" - Ms. Mai Chi shared.

Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep, Chairman of the Company's Trade Union, said: The proportion of female workers at the company is small compared to men, but they are always confident in participating in activities organized by the company. In particular, when coming to this competition, female workers enthusiastically registered and took advantage of time to practice after work. With that determination, they completed the competition excellently and showed off their beauty through colorful traditional costumes.

Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Labor Federation Bui Thi Bich Thuy said: After more than 2 months of launching, the contest has received the active response and participation of union members and workers. Through the exciting competitions, the teams brought impressive performances, expressing their love for their homeland and country, national pride and the cultural beauty of Vietnamese women. The contest is a new playground for female union members and workers to show their confidence, dynamism and creativity, contributing to spreading the image of Dong Nai women as "graceful - intelligent - integrated" in the new era. The organizing committee has selected 30 outstanding performances for the final performance which will take place on October 19.
