The incidence of type 2 diabetes is increasing, with a tendency to be younger.

(Dan Tri) - Endocrine diseases, diabetes and metabolic disorders are increasing rapidly, becoming a major public health challenge in Vietnam and globally.

On the evening of September 20, the Danang Endocrine - Diabetes Association and the Danang Department of Health co-organized an annual scientific event with the theme "Connecting and spreading knowledge - International integration". The conference gathered more than 100 leading experts, professors, doctors and researchers nationwide, along with 150 reports and 30 in-depth discussion sessions.

Topics covered at the conference include the latest advances in obesity treatment, diabetes management, thyroid disease, and cardiovascular and endocrine issues.

Speaking at the conference, Dr. Tran Thanh Thuy, Director of the Da Nang Department of Health, emphasized: "Endocrine diseases, diabetes and metabolic disorders are increasing rapidly, becoming a major public health challenge in Vietnam and globally."

Ms. Thuy added that the rate of type 2 diabetes and metabolic disorders is getting younger, causing a burden of disease and high treatment costs.

"This is a group of chronic diseases that cause many serious complications, are the leading cause of reduced quality of life, labor productivity and increased socio -economic burden," Dr. Thuy affirmed.

According to Dr. Thuy, prevention, management and treatment strategies are shifting towards a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, patient-specific and constantly updated approach. In particular, the role of information technology in diagnosis, monitoring and patient management is increasingly emphasized.

Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hai Thuy, Chairman of the Danang Endocrinology - Diabetes Association, emphasized: "The theme "Connecting, spreading knowledge, international integration" not only reflects the development goals of the industry but also demonstrates the commitment to improving the quality of health care and global medical integration".

Mr. Thuy also affirmed that this message demonstrates the importance of international cooperation and the Association's efforts in community activities, creating the next generation of young people.

The new point of this year's conference is the debate and clinical discussion sessions following the "café network" model, creating a close space for medical students and grassroots doctors to exchange directly with experts.

In particular, for the first time, there was a corporate health consultation session, focusing on cardiovascular diseases, stroke, obesity and diabetes - diseases that are increasing and becoming younger.

The Danang Endocrinology - Diabetes Scientific Conference 2025 is not only a prestigious scientific forum but also an important preparation step for Danang to host the Southeast Asian Endocrinology Federation Conference next November, contributing to spreading knowledge, promoting international integration and affirming the position of Vietnamese healthcare.
