On the morning of October 9, at Bach Dang Park (Phu Quoc), the People's Committee of An Giang province and the Ministry of Health officially launched the first international standard emergency facility in Vietnam.
Accordingly, from October 10, the 115 emergency hotline on Phu Quoc Island will be activated. Upon receiving a call, the operation center will immediately dispatch vehicles from satellite stations in key areas such as Duong Dong, An Thoi, Ganh Dau... aiming to reach the scene within 8 minutes.

On this occasion, the sponsor handed over 10 ambulances and modern medical equipment and machinery to the An Giang Provincial Department of Health (Photo: Hoang Duat).
This outpatient emergency facility has a total of 40 doctors, nurses, and technicians. At the ceremony, the sponsor also handed over 10 ambulances. Each vehicle is equipped as a mobile emergency room with a ventilator, electric shock machine, portable ultrasound, 12-lead electrocardiogram and many other modern equipment.
At the launching ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee, emphasized: "The launch of the Outpatient Emergency Facility marks an important step forward, demonstrating the determination of An Giang Province, the Ministry of Health and the dedicated support of the sponsor with the goal of putting patients at the center. So that no matter where they are, everyone can access timely and humane medical services."

Informing reporters, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Quang Hien, Director of the Department of Health of An Giang province, assessed this as an event of special importance.
“From now on, people and tourists can rest assured that when an incident occurs, they will be protected and given timely first aid. This is a spread of trust and pride in the quality of Vietnamese healthcare,” Mr. Hien shared.

Director of An Giang Department of Health Tran Quang Hien also revealed more about the comprehensive health development strategy for Phu Quoc. Accordingly, the province is promoting cooperation with Cho Ray Hospital (HCMC) to train high-quality human resources and upgrade modern equipment.
Mr. Hien added that the new 115 emergency system on Phu Quoc Island uses technology to take advantage of the "golden time" in emergency care. When a call is made, the system will automatically coordinate to the nearest emergency facility.
In particular, the caller's information will be identified through the VNeID application, helping to authenticate and prevent fake calls. At the same time, the system is capable of accurately locating the patient's location via GPS and displaying it on a digital map. This data not only helps the ambulance reach the scene as quickly as possible but is also sent directly to the receiving hospital.
This allows the hospital to prepare in advance and be ready to provide emergency care as soon as a patient arrives. This process is extremely important for stroke cases, where diagnosis and intervention must be performed within 5-10 minutes. If implemented well, this process will help us achieve international standards for stroke emergency care, increase the chance of survival and reduce sequelae for patients.
In the next phase, the project will also implement community first aid training programs for hotel and resort staff, teachers, armed forces, etc. to build a widespread emergency support network, improving safety for the whole society.
