U.23 Indonesia announced that they will win the Southeast Asian championship, aiming to defeat U.23 Vietnam.

U.23 Indonesia created maximum conditions for Dutch coach Gerald Vanenburg in the preparation process for the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 tournament, with the goal of winning the championship.

Head of the Indonesian U.23 team Ahmed Zaki Iskandar said: "The goal that the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) set for us is to win the 2025 Southeast Asian U.23 Championship. Coach Gerald Vanenburg has carefully selected the players he called up to the preliminary list to prepare for this year's tournament."

Mr. Gerald Vanenburg himself is an assistant to coach Patrick Kluivert of the Indonesian national team, so the playing style of the Indonesian U.23 team will likely not be different from that of the national team. It is a fast style of play, focusing on speed and physical strength in the European style, putting pressure on the opponent, forcing the opponent to make mistakes.

Indonesia U23 participated in the U23 Southeast Asian tournament with a squad of 13 national players. Most of these players participated in the AFF Cup 2024. That means the young team of the archipelago country has been preparing to conquer the regional youth tournament title since last year. Thanks to wearing the national team jersey at the AFF Cup, competition experience is the strength of the current Indonesian U23 players.

The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will take place from July 15 to 29 in Jakarta and Bekasi. Host U23 Indonesia is in Group A with U23 Malaysia, Philippines and Brunei. If they pass the group stage, U23 Indonesia can face U23 Vietnam in the semi-finals or final. In the most recent tournament in 2023, U23 Indonesia faced U23 Vietnam in the final, with U23 Vietnam winning.
