On the morning of October 2, information from the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province said that, regarding the incident of 75 students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School (Kim Ngan commune, Quang Tri province) not attending class, the education sector and local authorities met with parents to clarify the reason and find a solution.

The meeting took place on the afternoon of October 1, with the participation of Dr. Le Thi Huong - Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province; Mr. Tran Duy Binh - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune; along with the principal, teachers and parents of 75 boarding students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School.
At the meeting, parents expressed outrage over 75 students suffering from food poisoning after breakfast at school, of which 40 had to be hospitalized.
The above-mentioned group of poisoned students are from remote villages of Kim Ngan commune, eating and staying at school from Monday to Friday every week.
According to parents, after the poisoning incident, they are no longer confident about eating and living at school, so they decided to let their children stay home.
Ms. Ho Thi Huong, whose child is in 4th grade, shared: “Before the food poisoning incident, I heard my child say the food was spoiled and smelly, but I still believed the school. Now that this has happened, we no longer believe it.”

Mr. Do Van My, Principal of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School, sent an apology to all parents and said that the authorities are urgently clarifying the cause to come up with a solution.
Mr. My hopes that parents will send their children back to school soon to avoid affecting their studies, and he is committed to finding a way to provide meals for students while the school kitchen is temporarily closed.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Le Thi Huong, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province, said that this was an unexpected incident that affected the health of students. At the same time, she shared the difficulties of parents and students in Kim Ngan commune.
After receiving the information, the Department of Education and Training established a delegation led by the Deputy Director of the Department to go directly to the commune to inspect the situation, grasp the situation and issue a document directing the implementation of the contents according to regulations.
Ms. Le Thi Huong suggested that Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities review all stages of boarding work, from personnel, kitchen procedures, raw material sources to processing stages... At the same time, strictly handle violations (if any) after receiving conclusions from the authorities.
“This is a very unfortunate incident, showing that there are still laxities in management. Through this, the school's Board of Directors must clearly recognize their responsibilities, consider all shortcomings, including the boarding kitchen, to resolve them completely. The most important thing is the safety of the students,” Ms. Huong emphasized.
The Department will coordinate with the Commune People's Committee to encourage students to return to school, and other departments will coordinate in all aspects to return school activities to normal. While waiting for the conclusion from the authorities, the urgent task is to encourage children to return to school soon.
The leaders of the Department of Education and Training asked the teachers in the school to unite to overcome difficulties to continue the school year's tasks. The school is studying plans to coordinate with the Commune People's Committee to ensure daily meals for students. At the same time, it hopes that parents will join in ensuring the learning rights of students.
On this occasion, the Director of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri province presented 20 million VND to support meals for students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School.
