Be proactive in preparing
The Ministry of Education and Training has informed about the roadmap for piloting the organization of the High School Graduation Exam on computers. Accordingly, by December 2026, localities will complete the preparation of facilities for computer-based testing sites.
Sharing about the school's preparations, Mr. Phan Trong Hai - Vice Principal of Nguyen Hue High School (Vinh Long province) said that the school currently has 120 computers, of which 80 were newly issued in 2024; two fiber optic Internet lines of Viettel and VNPT were upgraded from 500 Mbps to 1,000 Mbps.
The school has introduced students to computer-based testing since 2021. Specifically, subject teachers have students regularly test on the school's LMS system; pilot mid-term testing on computers at school.
School teachers are instructed to manage student testing on computers and now all of them do it themselves for students to test on the LMS system.
At Phu Bai High School ( Hue City), Principal Hoang Minh informed that the school has reviewed its facilities, such as the number of computers, LAN system, Internet and all Wifi wireless connections, software installed on the computers. The IT lab system, teaching staff, IT staff, etc. have also been reviewed.
The school also completed the Information Technology Department, assigned tasks to each member; organized training on information technology application, AI, and digital transformation for staff, teachers, and employees.
Proposal from the base
From the school's experience, Mr. Phan Trong Hai shared that there are still many difficulties in preparing for computer-based exams. In particular, the number of computers is not much compared to the number of 11th grade students (120 computers/439 students). Although teachers have been trained and regularly organize computer-based exams for students, there are still concerns about whether the exam software deployed by the Ministry of Education and Training is similar to the software currently used by the school.
In order for the computer-based exam to take place safely, seriously and objectively, Mr. Phan Trong Hai said that the security of the exam on the software is very important; the internet system at the exam sites needs to be guaranteed.
“The school hopes to be equipped with more computers and receive additional funding to upgrade the internet connection system. At the same time, schools that are trained and trialing the software will use it for the high school graduation exam so that teachers and students can get acquainted,” said Mr. Phan Trong Hai.
Mr. Hoang Minh - Principal of Phu Bai High School (Hue City) also shared similar difficulties: The computer system is not uniform (configuration, quality); the network system is often congested when deployed simultaneously; the staff in charge of maintaining the information technology system at the school are mostly part-time teachers, so they are not professional in handling and supporting.
Mr. Hoang Minh proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training should issue documents to localities early, so that localities can have policies to invest in facilities (computers, network equipment, transmission lines, etc.) so that educational institutions can supplement them in a timely and synchronous manner; provide general standard instructions on computer configurations and demo version exam software so that schools can prepare.
The Ministry of Education and Training also needs to organize training sessions for managers, teachers, and staff working on computer-based exams and have a mechanism to recruit information technology staff for schools.
