Struggling to the point of 'suffocation' when moving at the 2 biggest intersections in Ho Chi Minh City

TPO - During rush hours, traffic congestion at two key intersections, An Phu intersection (Thu Duc City) and Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7), is quite complicated, making it difficult for people to travel.

An Phu Intersection (Thu Duc City) is the intersection of many major roads with heavy traffic. Currently, this intersection is under construction of many items such as underpasses, overpasses... some sections of the road are narrowed by construction barriers, this is also the main reason for prolonged traffic congestion in this area.

It is estimated that every day, about 20,000 container trucks pass through here. The waiting time for red lights at this intersection is quite long, the red light from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to the center of Ho Chi Minh City is long, which is one of the reasons why the exit of this expressway from Dong Nai to Ho Chi Minh City is often jammed.

During rush hours, people line up slowly on the road waiting to turn into An Phu intersection.

According to the project investor, the consulting unit and the investor are studying a plan to close the Mai Chi Tho - Dong Van Cong intersection for 4 months to synchronously construct an underpass and overpass here to shorten the project's progress.

The huge traffic volume leads to traffic chaos through the Eastern Gateway during rush hour.

This urgency also made Ho Chi Minh City leaders impatient many times, directing to speed up the completion of the most complicated intersection construction project at present.

An Phu intersection always has a very high traffic density, especially container trucks. The construction of the 3-level intersection is being accelerated to complete the entire project by April 2025.

After more than 2 months of temporarily closing the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection (District 7) to build an underpass, this area has become a "black spot" of traffic congestion.

The intersection is fenced with corrugated iron about 2 meters high, blocking both directions of Nguyen Huu Tho Street through the intersection.

This congestion is mainly concentrated in the flow of cars and containers on Nguyen Van Linh Street (from the toll station to the intersection) and on Nguyen Huu Tho Street (from Nha Be District to District 7).

During morning rush hours, Nguyen Van Linh Street (from Ong Lon Bridge to Nguyen Huu Tho - Nguyen Van Linh intersection) is jammed with traffic from the foot of Ong Lon Bridge to the intersection.

People traveling by motorbike face many difficulties, container trucks are stuck on the road for 15-20 minutes before they can move a short distance.

According to plan, the Nguyen Van Linh - Nguyen Huu Tho intersection will be barricaded for about 240 days.
