More than 700 billion VND to build a traffic intersection in Hai Phong

TPO - The People's Committee of Hai Phong City has just approved a traffic project with a total investment of more than 700 billion VND, to overcome traffic congestion at the Bui Vien - Le Hong Phong intersection. This is a key gateway intersection connecting Cat Bi seaport and airport with National Highway 5 (QL5).

Hai Phong City People's Committee has just approved the investment project to build the Bui Vien - Le Hong Phong traffic intersection in Hai An ward.

The total investment is more than 700 billion VND from the city budget. The project's goal is to gradually improve the traffic system in Hai An ward, overcome traffic congestion and ensure traffic safety for vehicles moving through the Bui Vien - Le Hong Phong - Ngo Gia Tu intersection. Reduce the traffic volume of trucks on National Highway 5, the section through the inner city and other routes and create architectural highlights in the urban space.

Current status of Bui Vien - Le Hong Phong intersection, Hai Phong city.

The project scale is to complete the construction of the first floor traffic intersection in the form of a roundabout, with a radius of 30m.

Bui Vien Street has a 485m long underpass. Of which, the closed tunnel is 125m long, 27.7m wide, and designed with 6 lanes. The open tunnel on both sides is 360m long, with a designed speed of 70km/h.

Le Hong Phong and Ngo Gia Tu streets remain in their original state, designed to smoothly connect with the roundabout.

Hai Phong City People's Committee assigned the Hai Phong Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor, with implementation period 2024-2027.

Bui Vien Street, part of the Hai Phong Urban Transport Development Project, was put into operation by Hai Phong City in 2020. The newly opened route serves as part of the second ring road, forming a new traffic axis from the seaport area to highways and national highways to reduce pressure on inner-city traffic.

Project perspective.

Bui Vien Street, the section running through Hai An District (formerly), now Hai An Ward, intersects with Le Hong Phong and Ngo Gia Tu Streets, the entrance and exit areas of Cat Bi International Airport.
