Young athlete determined to defend championship title at Aqua Warrioros Van Don 2025 - Camel Cup

(Dan Tri) - Before the Aqua Warriors Van Don 2025 - Camel Cup on September 27 and 28, athlete Hoang Hai Nam is still practicing diligently with the goal of defending the championship in the Junior Aqua Warriors category.

Hoang Hai Nam (born in 2016) is a familiar face to the Aqua Warriors tournaments organized by Dan Tri newspaper and Bolt Event in 2025.

At the Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 tournament held in April, Hoang Hai Nam easily won first place in the Kids Aqua Warriors category for athletes under 9 years old. Unfortunately, the achievement of the athlete from the Viet Hung Ward swimming team ( Hanoi ) was not recognized due to a violation in the running competition (running shirtless and finishing).

However, at the Aqua Warriors Quang Tri 2025 tournament held last July, Hoang Hai Nam made no mistakes to win first place in the Junior Aqua Warriors category.

The talent of this young athlete is highly appreciated by the Organizing Committee of the Aqua Warriors tournament, so he is one of the few athletes to receive a Bib invitation from the Organizing Committee to participate in the Aqua Warriors Van Don 2025 - Camel Cup (taking place on September 27 and 28 in Quang Ninh ) completely free of charge.

"I was invited to participate so I practiced even harder, with the goal of competing for a medal to not disappoint everyone's expectations. Compared to when I competed in the Kids Aqua Warriors category at the Aqua Warriors Halong Bay 2025 tournament in April, this time I competed in the Junior Aqua Warriors category so competing for a medal will be much more difficult," said Hoang Van Hien, Hoang Hai Nam's father and also the coach of the Viet Hung ward swimming team.

According to Mr. Hien, the Junior Aqua Warriors event is for athletes from 9 to 11 years old, while Hoang Hai Nam has just turned 9 years old so he will have to compete with older brothers and sisters, so it will be more difficult when it comes to physical strength.

"Over the past few days, Hai Nam has maintained his daily training volume of 2 running sessions and 1 swimming session. He has been training continuously all week without a break. However, at this age, he will not train with heavy volume, but will divide it into small daily sessions and accumulate endurance day by day.

For running, Hai Nam will have 2 speed running sessions per week, the rest will be endurance running. For swimming, I maintain a regular schedule with moderate volume, avoiding overexertion. The secret to competing well in Aqua Warriors is that athletes need to have a good nutritional regimen.

Nutrition is an important part of endurance sports, specifically eggs, milk, bananas must always be included in the daily diet. Another thing is that athletes need to be well prepared mentally.

Every day, I always care for and encourage my son during training and when he is tired," Mr. Hoang Van Hien added about supporting his son during his training process to prepare for Aqua Warriors Van Don 2025 - Camel Cup.

"Many athletes only focus on running and swimming, but forget to practice the transition. Because after completing the swimming competition, athletes need to adapt well to the transition process to move on to the running competition.

The transition is very important, requiring athletes to be agile and proficient in putting on shoes and clothes in the shortest time possible. Socks should not be too thick or too tight, which will take time.

Tying shoelaces is also very difficult for young children. If tied loosely, they can easily come untied while running, affecting their performance. There should be solutions such as using plastic buttons or pre-tied laces," Mr. Hoang Van Hien advised athletes when competing in Aqua Warriors Van Don 2025 - Camel Cup.
