From 6am this morning (January 15), Traffic Police and Traffic Inspectors will regulate and guide vehicles passing through Chuong Duong Bridge according to a new plan, which only allows cars, motorbikes and cars carrying students to circulate, banning passenger cars with more than 9 seats and trucks over 0.5 tons.

A representative of the Hanoi Department of Transport said that the reason for extending the above "ban" (which has been implemented since September) is to reduce vehicle density and reduce congestion on Chuong Duong Bridge.

The continued ban is also to reduce the deterioration of the bridge infrastructure that has been built and operated for 40 years. It is known that many items including steel beams, bridge railings, and bridge deck are damaged on a large scale.

To ensure traffic and limit the degradation of Chuong Duong Bridge, along with the plan to organize and readjust traffic, the Hanoi Department of Transport also said that it is assigning the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board to conduct a load-bearing level inspection and develop a plan to repair and maintain the bridge in 2025.
