(Dan Tri) - Protesting the transfer of students from satellite schools to main schools, many parents in Quang Binh did not send their children to class after Tet.

The incident is causing a stir at Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1, Ba Don town, Quang Binh province when more than 150 students have not yet returned to class after the Lunar New Year holiday.

The reason came from parents protesting the decision to transfer all students from the Tan My satellite school to the main school 2km away.

Parent Le Trung Dung said: "The school is in disrepair and needs to be repaired and upgraded. We want to keep this school and not transfer all the students to the main school. Many parents go to sea far away, and their children are taken care of by their grandparents. If they study at the main school, they will have to take them far away and it will be difficult."

Mr. Phan Tien Lam, Principal of Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1, said that Tan My campus has 6 classes with 154 students. Due to the school's deterioration, the local government has directed the school to close in January and transfer students to the main campus to ensure safety.

According to Mr. Lam, the school has organized 3 meetings to promote and mobilize parents and prepare 6 classrooms with full equipment to welcome students to school. However, since February 3rd, parents have not brought their children to class.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Thanh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Phuc Ward, said that the authorities have coordinated with the school to explain to parents that the transfer was due to the old classroom not being safe. Thereby, they encouraged parents to bring their children back to class soon to ensure teaching and learning, but parents still did not agree.

Regarding the incident, Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Vice Chairman of Ba Don Town People's Committee, said that at the end of 2024, the locality invited the specialized agency of Quang Binh Department of Construction to inspect the quality of the construction at Tan My school and Quang Phuc Primary School No. 1.

Inspection results show that classrooms at Tan My school do not meet normal usage requirements and are in a locally dangerous situation.

According to Mr. Tinh, the locality is balancing the funding to rebuild Tan My school, but the time may last for a whole year. To ensure the safety of students and teachers, the immediate solution is to move them back to the main school.

The leaders of Ba Don town also directed Quang Phuc ward and the local education sector to actively mobilize and explain to parents so that they can understand and bring their children back to class soon.
