On September 18, information from the Traffic Works Maintenance and Public Passenger Transport Operation Board ( Thanh Hoa Department of Transport) said that handling the landslide at Km 88+750 - Km 88+810/QL15C is still facing many difficulties due to the weather.

Authorities have temporarily filled the road to restore traffic through the landslide area.

"The heavy and prolonged rain has made it difficult to temporarily fill the soil to restore the road surface to the negative slope. Every time the soil is filled, it becomes soft when it comes into contact with water," said Mr. Hoang Van Tuyen, Deputy Director of the Traffic Works Maintenance and Public Passenger Transport Operations Department.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Pham Van Tuan, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, said that currently only motorbikes of people living around the area are allowed to travel. The Department is assigning the maintenance team to connect with the Vietnam Road Administration to take early measures to handle the issue because of fear of further landslides in the Pu Nhi Border Guard Station area on the positive slope.

It is known that in July and August and under the influence of storm No. 3, in Thanh Hoa there was moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain, causing landslides and damaging road traffic infrastructure on National Highways 15, 16, 15C, 217...

Due to the impact of floods, QL15C section through Pu Nhi commune had 2/3 of the road surface eroded.

Of which, at Km 88+750 - Km 88+810 National Highway 15C through Pu Nhi commune, Muong Lat district, there was a landslide on the positive and negative slopes causing the road surface to collapse, and a house collapsed.

Immediately after receiving the report from the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, the Ministry of Transport announced a natural disaster emergency to respond to and repair the damage to the transport infrastructure in this area. At the same time, the Vietnam Road Administration is directing the Department of Transport to implement remedial measures.

However, storm No. 3 has caused more landslides in this area, 2/3 of the road surface is damaged and has slid, about 3m deep and 60m long, so Thanh Hoa Department of Transport is asking to adjust the solution to handle additional arising points to ensure safety.

Currently, according to the Thanh Hoa Department of Transport, because the road surface has not been restored, heavy vehicles are still guided to go through National Highway 16 to the center of Muong Lat and vice versa.
