On the afternoon of September 29, in Hanoi, the 12th National Congress of the Party Committee of the Army, term 2025-2030, held a preparatory session under the chairmanship of General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense.

Also attending the Congress were comrades: General Trinh Van Quyet, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army; General Nguyen Tan Cuong, Member of the Party Central Committee, Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense , along with Senior Lieutenant Generals who are members of the Central Military Commission, Deputy Ministers of National Defense, and leaders of affiliated agencies and units.

General Phan Van Giang thoroughly grasped the purpose, requirements and tasks of the Congress. The Central Military Commission Standing Committee reported to the Politburo and the General Secretary on the preparation work; it was highly appreciated and approved to hold the Congress from September 29 to October 2.

On behalf of the Presidium, General Trinh Van Quyet reported on the synthesis of 836 comments on the Draft Documents of the 14th National Party Congress, focusing on national defense, security, Party building and the fight against corruption and negativity.
