The visit took place at a time when the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations - a milestone in the history of bilateral relations. The visit affirmed the consistent policy of the Party and State of Vietnam to always attach importance to the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Bulgaria; and the determination to strongly develop the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship in the new period, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace , stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The past 75 years have marked the profound affection and brilliant achievements of cooperation between Vietnam and Bulgaria. Bulgaria, a European country, has accompanied and stood side by side with Vietnam during the arduous years of resistance, as well as in the process of national construction and development.

Thousands of Vietnamese scientists , experts and skilled workers have been trained in Bulgaria, bringing valuable knowledge back to contribute to the country's development. Vietnamese human resources have also made important contributions to the construction of infrastructure projects in Bulgaria. This is a testament to the strong friendship and good cooperation between the two countries.

Bulgaria is one of the first countries in the world to recognize and officially establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam. The close and sincere affection between the people of the two countries is a solid foundation for Vietnam-Bulgaria to cultivate relations for more than seven decades. President Ho Chi Minh's official friendly visit to Bulgaria in August 1957 laid the foundation and was an important milestone in the history of relations between the two countries.

Currently, the two sides continue to maintain and exchange high-level visits, creating a strong driving force for the development of the traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries to a new height. The two sides periodically implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms; cooperate and support each other at the United Nations, the ASEAN-European Union (EU) Strategic Partnership, the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)...

Vietnam and Bulgaria are taking steady steps on the path of cooperation. Bilateral economic cooperation has developed dynamically. Trade between the two countries has grown continuously over the past 10 years, with two-way trade turnover in 2024 reaching 263 million USD, an increase of 24.4% compared to 2023. In the first 6 months of 2025 alone, bilateral trade turnover reached nearly 110 million USD. Bulgaria currently has 14 investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of 35 million USD.

Cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education and training, science and technology, security and defense, culture, etc. has also been focused on and achieved many successes. Regarding education and training, Vietnam and Bulgaria have signed a Cooperation Program for the period 2025-2028; the two countries are studying to expand training cooperation in areas of Bulgaria's strengths such as information technology, cyber security, e-government, public administration, etc. Regarding security and defense cooperation, the two sides coordinate in training military academies, security officers and exchange information on citizens who commit crimes, illegal migration, illegal immigration, etc.

The Vietnamese community in Bulgaria currently has about 1,200 people, with a spirit of solidarity, always looking towards the Fatherland and actively contributing to the local socio-economic development, highly appreciated by the Bulgarian authorities at all levels. They are the ones who persistently build a "bridge" for the friendship between the two nations. The Vietnamese Association in Bulgaria always closely coordinates with the Vietnamese Embassy in Bulgaria to organize community activities, keeping the flame of patriotism in the hearts of every expatriate burning forever.

The official visit to Bulgaria by General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, sends a message of the two countries' strong determination to bring the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship to a new height. May the General Secretary's visit be a great success, creating new momentum to promote the Vietnam-Bulgaria relationship to continue developing, continuing the 75-year tradition of friendship and close cooperation between the two countries.
