In July 2025, the merger of Luong Son town with 4 communes: Hoa Son, Lam Son, Nhuan Trach, Tan Vinh and part of Cao Son commune opened a new development phase. Luong Son became an administrative unit with an area of over 131 km2, a population of over 45,000 people - a large enough scale to plan, attract investment and develop a modern urban area. Immediately after that, the Party Committee and the commune government focused on perfecting the organization, reforming administration, and mobilizing resources for development. In June 2025, the Prime Minister approved the General Urban Planning of Luong Son until 2045 - a strategic milestone, creating a solid legal foundation for the future.

Luong Son Industrial Park creates jobs for 13,000 workers, contributing to sustainable economic restructuring in the locality.

“Luong Son today is not only a changing locality, but also a model of sustainable development aspirations of the entire Northern midland and mountainous region. We identify green growth, clean industry, and civilized services as the inevitable path for long-term development.” – Comrade Doan Tien Lap, Secretary of the Party Committee of Luong Son commune emphasized.

In the 2021-2025 period alone, Luong Son has built 185 infrastructure projects with a total capital of more than 4,800 billion VND. The regional transport system is prioritized for investment, with important routes such as: Luong Son - Xuan Mai road (more than 1,000 billion VND), the route connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Nhuan Trach Industrial Park (140 billion VND)... Industry and handicrafts also grew strongly, reaching an average of 18.5%/year. In 2025, the total production value of the industry is expected to reach 23,633 billion VND, 2.3 times higher than in 2020.

Three industrial parks are in operation, of which Luong Son Industrial Park has achieved a 100% occupancy rate, creating jobs for more than 13,000 workers. Notably, Luong Son has attracted 148 investment projects, including 23 FDI projects with a total registered capital of more than 304 million USD. Large urban areas such as Dong Truong Son (98 ha), Lam Son Ecological (66 ha) or Viet Xanh (49.9 ha) are gradually taking shape, creating a new look for the land that is familiar with the traditional rural image.

Luong Son commune implements the goal of green growth and sustainable development

Luong Son commune attracts many ecological urban areas that are being invested in the area.

Mr. Vo Van Truong, Chief of Office of An Thinh Real Estate Joint Stock Company - the investor of Luong Son Industrial Park's infrastructure - shared: "The company focuses on attracting clean industries, prioritizing electronics assembly, functional food production... to ensure green growth and sustainable development criteria. Because only then can Luong Son develop industry while protecting the environment and public health."

People clearly feel the sustainable development process in this land. Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, 45 years old, living near the road connecting to Nhuan Trach Industrial Park, excitedly shared: “Previously, the road was small and narrow, making it difficult to travel. Now the road has been widened, cars can reach my place, my children have jobs near home. I hope that the new urban areas will have more trees and good services so that people's lives will truly improve.”

In industrial zones, many local youths find opportunities to start a business. Mr. Ngo Van Hung, 28 years old, a worker at Luong Son Industrial Park, said: “Before, I had to go to Hanoi to work for hire, which was unstable. Now I work right in my hometown, with a stable income, close to my family. I hope that businesses will continue to expand, creating more opportunities for young workers to stay in their hometown for a long time.”

But along with the joy, there are also worries. Mr. Nguyen Van Quang, 72 years old, an elder in Dong Sam village, worries: “Development is necessary, but I hope my descendants will still preserve the village customs and traditional festivals. No matter how modern the city is, the cultural identity must be preserved so that the people of Luong Son do not lose their hometown spirit.”

With the advantages of landscape, climate, and rich cultural identity, the midland and mountainous cities of the North have the potential to develop into clean industrial centers, commercial services, eco-tourism, and resorts. The success of Luong Son shows that synchronous planning and long-term vision are prerequisites. Industry must go hand in hand with green and clean, avoiding trade-offs with the environment. Modern infrastructure must be linked to the actual needs of the people. Preserving culture and preserving spiritual heritage are pillars for sustainable development.

Comrade Doan Tien Lap, Party Secretary of the commune, affirmed: “We do not develop at all costs. Luong Son strives to become a model ward in the next term, but the higher goal is to build a livable urban area, where industry and services develop in parallel with preserving culture and the environment.”

Luong Son today has been creating a new image: a green, smart industrial - service urban area, closely connected with the capital Hanoi, becoming the development nucleus of Phu Tho province.
