On the night of October 7, when the floodwaters of the Cau River rose to level 3, the Tam Giang Commune authorities organized evacuation and arranged food, accommodation and rest for the people of Dong Nhan and Dien Loc villages. Of these, nearly 150 people, mainly the elderly and children, were taken to the Medical Station and Hoa Tien Secondary School.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Dat, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Tam Giang commune, this agency has mobilized organizations such as youth, women, farmers, etc.; called for support resources from households and businesses to provide necessities, organized cooking of nearly 150 meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for people evacuated from flooded areas. As a vulnerable point for storms and floods, the forces of Tam Giang commune are always ready with plans to evacuate and support in case of emergency in the spirit of ensuring absolute safety of life, taking the best care so that people can feel secure in evacuating to a safe place.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tien, 72 years old, a resident of Dien Loc village, said: “In the past week, we had to flee the flood twice. Thanks to the timely support of the local government, we have a safe place to eat and sleep, without hunger, cold or fear. My children can still go to school as usual.”
It is known that due to the impact of storms No. 10 and 11, in Tam Giang commune, there are 7 villages: Doai, Dong Nhan, Dien Loc, Yen Hau, Yen Tan, Yen Vi, Vong Nguyet affected with estimated damage of about 10 billion VND. Of which, Dong Nhan and Dien Loc villages were the most affected with 343 households flooded, 76 hectares of rice and crops damaged.

To prepare for storms and floods, the People's Committee of Tam Giang commune has developed a plan to mobilize 300 people including military forces, shock troops, police, people and 60 vehicles and supplies; the planned location for evacuating households from flooded areas has a capacity of about 350 people.

However, Tam Giang Commune People's Committee requested the Provincial People's Committee, departments and branches to promptly arrange funds to support the damage to affected people and other essential necessities: medicine, medical supplies (25% chloramine - alum for water treatment, topical medicine, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, eye drops, pain reliever, fever reducer, antiseptic), mosquito repellent, etc.
