According to the reporter's records, in Yen Binh commune, there are 8 schools from kindergarten to junior high school level that were affected and flooded by storm No. 11. Yen Binh is also the commune with the most affected schools compared to the communes in Huu Lung district (old) such as Huu Lung commune with 6 schools, Thien Tan commune with 4 schools, Van Nham commune with 3 schools, Tuan Son commune with 3 schools... Among them, the schools that were flooded and suffered heavy damage are: Yen Binh Kindergarten, Yen Binh Primary School.... The rain and floods have completely flooded classrooms, the principal's office, the school yard, the stage, and many outdoor decorative structures. In addition, the flood caused the fence to collapse, and books and teaching equipment were swept away.
For example, at Yen Binh Kindergarten: 12/14 classrooms, 1 kitchen, 3 offices were completely flooded. Teaching equipment included 6 printers, 3 computers, 13 televisions, 1 projector, 1 scanner, 4 refrigerators, 6 water dispensers, 2 gas rice cookers, 1 industrial gas stove for collective cooking, 1 dish dryer, 7 industrial fans, 30 pedestal fans, 1 industrial water purifier, 2 small water purifiers, 20 wall fans, 4 portable speakers, 1 amplifier, 1 speaker, 1 wooden document cabinet, 6 sets of desks and chairs, 1 set of conference tables and chairs, 100 reclining chairs were all flooded and some were washed away. In addition, school supplies, books, toys, student desks and chairs, beds, blankets, foam, sleeping equipment such as blanket and mat cabinets, personal belongings, toy shelves were damaged and almost all washed away. In addition, the school's newly imported food such as milk, rice, beans... for children worth more than 40 million VND was also flooded and washed away. ...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, Principal of Yen Binh Kindergarten shared: The recent storm No. 11 has caused very heavy damage to our school. Up to now, the work of overcoming the consequences of the flood is being urgently deployed by the school with the highest proactive spirit. Every teacher is clearly aware that this is the top priority, to soon maintain the learning routine and bring the children back to school to study safely and effectively. Along with the work of cleaning the school, we are continuing to review the damage, consulting with local authorities and management levels to direct the consolidation and addition of facilities.
At Yen Binh Primary School, organizations, unions, units and functional forces are urgently cleaning up and restoring facilities, ready to welcome students back to school as soon as possible.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Suu, Deputy Regiment Commander, Chief of Staff of Regiment 12, Division 3, Military Region 1, said: As soon as we received information about supporting localities affected by the recent storm No. 11, in Yen Binh commune, our unit sent 210 officers and soldiers to prepare full equipment to respond to emergency situations. Specifically, at schools in the commune, immediately after the water receded, each location the unit sent 30 officers and soldiers to coordinate with the schools to clean up mud, rearrange tables and chairs, and teaching equipment to help schools stabilize and welcome students back to school.

Ms. Tran Hoai Trang, Chairman of Yen Binh Commune People's Committee, said: Due to the impact of storm No. 11, 8/8 schools in the commune were affected, including some schools that suffered very heavy damage to facilities, specifically essential teaching equipment such as computers, amplifiers, projectors; living equipment such as mattresses, carpets, foam flooring, pots, cooking stoves, etc. were completely damaged. Immediately after the storm passed, the commune mobilized all local forces, coordinated with cadres, teachers, parents and military forces of Regiment 12, Division 3, Military Region 1 to urgently clean up mud, collect tables and chairs, fix and repair damaged items at the schools. As of the end of October 13, 3/8 schools had welcomed students back to school, the remaining 5 schools with about more than 1,000 students had not yet gone to school. The commune is directing schools to quickly stabilize and welcome students back to school as soon as possible. For schools that have been greatly affected, such as Yen Binh Kindergarten and Yen Binh Primary School, the local government is actively mobilizing forces and resources to continue supporting schools to recover as quickly as possible and welcome students back to school.
With the timely and drastic intervention, the work of overcoming the consequences of storm No. 11 at schools in Yen Binh commune is being accelerated. However, after completing the cleaning, the schools encountered many difficulties because many items such as roofs, electrical systems, desks and chairs, teaching equipment were still severely damaged, requiring time and resources to repair and replace. Therefore, the local authorities and schools also need the cooperation and support from agencies, units, organizations and philanthropists to help teachers and students of schools teach and learn safely and stably for a long time.
