The image of a sea of pure white clouds flowing over the top of Ba Den Mountain on April 9 (March 1 of the lunar calendar) has attracted a lot of attention in the past 2 days. The photo series has attracted tens of thousands of interactions on social networks.
It is known that at around 6am on April 9, Tay Ninh sky was clear blue, Ba Den mountain peak looked from afar like it was wearing a giant hat of white clouds, both magical and poetic.
These images were recorded by journalist and travel blogger Nguyen Minh Tu (HCMC) on April 8-9. "I have been to Ba Den Mountain many times and love this place very much. Ba Den Mountain is not only a sacred mountain peak of the Southeast region but also an attractive destination for tourists because of its fresh, cool air and many festivals imbued with national identity.
Although the sea of clouds often covers the mountain top, not every photography enthusiast is lucky enough to capture the moment when the clouds flow like a flowing stream. I have also tried to hunt for clouds here many times but failed," Mr. Tu shared.
Recently, when reading about the cloud season appearing on Ba Den Mountain, Mr. Tu spent 3 days to go there to admire and take pictures. "The moment when clouds covered the Buddha statue of Tay Bo Da Son and the sandstone statue of Maitreya Buddha happened very quickly. I had to capture this scene in a short moment," Mr. Tu said.
Less than 100km from Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Den Mountain is considered the perfect cooling destination during the hot season, when the temperature on the mountain top is always 8-10 degrees lower than in the city. Early April is also the ideal time to admire the sea of clouds here.
Representatives of this tourist area confirmed that in recent days, impressive seas of clouds have appeared frequently, attracting a large number of tourists.
Located at an altitude of 986m above sea level, Ba Den Mountain is known as the “roof of the South” and is the symbol of Tay Ninh province. The highlight of this mountain is the statue of Buddha Tay Bo Da Son located on the top of the mountain 72m high, designed, carved elaborately, cast from more than 170 tons of red copper and was recognized by the Asian Record Organization as “The tallest bronze Buddha statue in Asia located on the top of the mountain”.
"The moment I launched the flycam above the thick fog, I saw Buddha Tay Bo Da Son appear in the middle of white clouds, it felt like a fairyland," Minh Tu recalled.
The rainy season in Tay Ninh lasts from May to November, and this July is considered the most beautiful and favorable time to hunt for lenticular cloud phenomena with the shape of flying saucers, cloud caps, and strange cloud shapes such as fire rainbows, phoenixes... at Ba Den Mountain. This year, the sea of clouds appears earlier and more frequently.
"The photos will be most beautiful when visitors come at dawn, when the clouds are rolling in but not too high. In April, Tay Ninh's weather is hot and humid, but on the mountain top there are beautiful clouds every morning, and the easiest time to take pictures is between 6am and 9am. If you come in May - the beginning of the rainy season - the clouds on the mountain are likely to be thick, covering everything, making it very difficult to take pictures," Tu shared his experience.
Many locals and tourists take advantage of this time to watch the weather from the previous afternoon, and arrive at the foot of Ba Den mountain early the next morning.
According to the recent cloud hunting experience of many people, if it rains the previous afternoon, the next morning you can see clouds covering the mountain top with many strange shapes. The heavier the rain in the afternoon, the more clouds there are, and the more beautiful they are the next day.
