New dengue fever outbreak appears in Dong Tien commune

The Ha Tinh Center for Disease Control (CDC Ha Tinh) said that currently in Toan Thang village, Dong Tien commune, there are 4 cases of dengue fever (DF). This is the second outbreak discovered in Ha Tinh since the beginning of the year.

Accordingly, the first case to appear was patient NTT (born in 1970, residing in Toan Thang village, Dong Tien commune, Ha Tinh province). Previously, on August 1, the patient had symptoms of fever, fatigue, headache, muscle and joint pain, bought medicine to treat at home but did not improve. On August 5, the patient was taken by his family to Thanh Sen Medical Center for examination and treatment. Here, the patient was tested and confirmed positive for NS1Ag.

Through epidemiological surveillance investigation around the area of patient NTT's family, it was found that in the past 4 weeks, there was a case of NTV (born in 2012, traveling from Long An commune, Tay Ninh province to his grandfather's house in Toan Thang village, Dong Tien commune) with symptoms of high fever, headache, fatigue, and his family bought medicine to treat him at home, without going to the medical station. Later (July 15), patient NTV's grandfather had signs of high fever, headache, fatigue, and was taken to a private clinic by his family, got medicine, and treated himself at home.

Up to now, authorities have discovered one new case of dengue fever also in Toan Thang village, bringing the total number of cases to four.

CDC Ha Tinh, Thanh Sen Medical Center and local authorities deploy measures to prevent dengue fever in Toan Thang commune.

Master Nguyen Chi Thanh - Director of CDC Ha Tinh said: Immediately after detecting dengue fever cases, CDC Ha Tinh coordinated with Thanh Sen Medical Center and local authorities to urgently deploy epidemic prevention and control measures in Toan Thang village such as: launching environmental sanitation, handling and overturning water containers, collecting waste, clearing sewers, and spraying chemicals to kill adult mosquitoes for households in the village.

CDC Ha Tinh also requested the local health sector and authorities to step up propaganda on epidemic prevention measures on the loudspeaker system of communes and villages; strengthen monitoring of suspected cases to medical facilities immediately for monitoring and treatment, absolutely do not let patients buy medicine to treat at home...

This is the second outbreak detected in Ha Tinh since the beginning of the year with a total of 39 cases, including 7 cases in Song Tri ward (the outbreak has been successfully controlled), the rest are scattered cases in Ha Tinh.
