Y Ty, Ta Xua, Lao Than appear frost, the forest canopy is magically beautiful

On January 11, many high mountainous areas in the North such as Phia Oac (Cao Bang), Ta Xua (Tram Tau, Yen Bai ), Lao Than peak (Y Ty, Lao Cai), La Pan Tan pass (Mu Cang Chai, Yen Bai) appeared covered in ice.

Beautiful, majestic images of ice covering tree branches and blades of grass were recorded by tourists and local tour guides.

The familiar trekking route with forest canopy or low grassy hills is now more strange and magical with transparent ice.

Giang Hanh Phuc, a local tour guide in Mu Cang Chai, said that on January 11, Ta Xua peak in Tram Tau district (Yen Bai) was covered with thick ice. The trekking route was covered in white ice, bringing a new experience to tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Cung was also lucky to encounter this strange phenomenon during his trekking trip to Lao Than peak (Y Ty, Lao Cai ). Grass, trees, and small flowers were all covered in a layer of ice.

Previously, on the top of Fansipan, ice continuously appeared in the last 6 days of 2024 and the beginning of 2025, making tourists curious and excited. However, today, on the roof of Indochina, there is warm sunshine and no ice.

According to information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on the night of January 11, cold air continued to strengthen, causing severe cold in the mountainous and midland areas of the North.

The lowest temperature in this cold air mass in the North and Thanh Hoa - Nghe An region is generally from 9 - 12 degrees Celsius, in the mountainous areas of the North it is 6 - 9 degrees Celsius, and in the high mountainous areas it is below 3 degrees Celsius.
