14 provinces and cities at risk of landslides and flash floods at night

Tonight, the five localities with the highest risk of flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence are Lao Cai, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh.

The remaining provinces and cities are Lai Chau, Son La, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh , and Quang Tri.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hien, Deputy Director of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the soil moisture model shows that some areas in the above provinces are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached a saturated state. It is forecasted that tonight and tonight, Son La, Lao Cai, Phu Tho and Tuyen Quang will continue to have rain from 60-120mm, some places over 200mm; other areas of the North, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Ha Tinh from 30-60mm, some places over 100mm; Quang Tri from 10-20mm, some places over 50mm.

The risk of flash floods and landslides tonight, tomorrow and the coming days remains very high, mainly concentrated in the midlands and mountainous areas.
