2 businesses fined 250 million VND for spreading spam messages and calls

Accordingly, two businesses, Suntech Trading, Service and Communications Company Limited and a company related to the financial sector, committed violations such as: spreading spam messages, sending messages, and making advertising calls to phone numbers on the Do Not Advertise List.

Of which, Suntech Trading, Service and Communication Company Limited was fined 90 million VND. The Finance Company was fined 160 million VND.

In addition to the fines, the two businesses also had to apply additional penalties. In particular, Suntech Trading, Service and Communication Company Limited was suspended from providing advertising services through the names SUNTECH CO and SUNTECH SER for a period of 2 months (from September 20 to November 20).

Recently, the Ministry also revoked 5 more identifiers of 2 units: ITG Technology and Communication Company Limited with 1 identifier and ITY Technology and Trade Joint Stock Company with 4 identifiers.

Previously, the Ministry of Information and Communications also decided to revoke 6 identifiers used to spread spam messages and spam calls, including 4 identifiers of ITS International IT Solutions JSC and 2 identifiers of Power Membership Card JSC.

The Information Security Department also sent a notice reminding individuals and organizations to comply with regulations on the responsibility of advertisers to use their identifiers. New organizations and individuals who have been granted identifiers will also be sent a notice about the necessary information related to the responsibility of advertisers when using their identifiers for advertising, along with information on penalties for violations.

And in the coming time, the Department of Information Security will strengthen monitoring and supervision of the use of identifiers by individuals and organizations, and coordinate with the Ministry Inspectorate to strictly handle violations of regulations on spam messages and spam calls, including violations when using identifiers in advertising activities.
